replacing a Power Steering Pump?

I'm changing out my PS pump, OMFG...

So far:
Inner fender well out
Removed the PS pulley, Fn thing
Removed all the bolts (6) in the front of the alum bracket
Used an inspection mirror and quartz light to thoroughly make sure I got ALL the bolts out of the front of the bracket
Removed the Alt (3 bolts)
Loosen the Alt bracket to Exst manifold so it is free
Removed a very thin profile nut from the stud on the backside of the PS pump
Removed both bolts that go through the alum bracket into the PS pump body

And here is where I Am.
There's a bolt through the alum bracket into the block that sits BEHIND the reservoir, HOW do i get that one?
As it sits right now the reservoir and pump body are still SOLID,
I used the BFH to test its condition.
The lines are still attached, but I don't see them offering any structural support, especially any the BFH wouldn't relieve.

Am I missing something here?

The SyTy manuals are very vague in this area even in the Ty Supplement.
A search of the BB offered NOTHING about a PS pump that is useful.
The OG SyTy.org mailing list archive turned up a few hints but it is all vague references as to how it was a difficult job and move this that way and drop this down here and grind this off. none of it translated very well.

Remove the bolts that hold the p/s pump to the bracket. That gives a little more clearance to get a wrench on that last bolt.

There are 2 Bolts through the front into the pump body, those are out.
There is 1 nut on a stud at the back of the pump, that is off

What am i missing?

I don't have mine apart but I thought there were 3 bolts in front. There's also a clamp for the hoses that may hold it in place.

Just did this 2 nights ago. What a PITA

3 bolts in front of pump on Aluminum bracket. Take out all the Al bracket bolts/nuts, 2bolts/1stud nut on head and 1bolt/1stud nut on block. The bolt behind pump is just barely accesible after you take off two nuts on steel bracket. Pull the steel bracket towards the fender, and it should come off of studs. Wiggle the pump down, and you should be able to get the last bolt out of head. There are two nuts on the back of the pump, that hold the steel bracket on.

On my old Sy, we used a grinder on the ear that surrounds that bitch bolt, allowing an open end wrench a better look for next time. My headers were the only aftermarket that still used the steel bracket on the alt/PS pump.

When you reassemble, OMIT that !@#$%^&* bolt - really isn't a problem, and, there *will* be a next time......

Well,

I replaced the bracket that sits behind the powersteering pump. In order to do that I took off the altenator, took off the fanshrod, took off the fan, took of the big aluminum altenator bracket. once the altenator bracket was taken all the way off, the powersteering pump slid right out. I had a problem taking off the damn pulley. The pulley had to be cut off. There is a bolt the is near the top of the altenator bracket the connects to the block that sits in the indentation of the aluminum alt. bracket. Once the aluminum alt. bracket is out the powersteering pump should slide out. There are 3 bolts that connect the powersteering pump to the aluminum alt bracket. After the alumin alt bracket is out it should be easy.

HTH
Good Luck, not a fun job
