Replacing Methanol with Hydrogen Peroxide???

Last Friday, my wife and I were watching a TV series rerun called Numb3rs. In that particular episode, there were discussions about a fire accelerant being hydrogen peroxide.

I was wondering if any one with the water injection systems has tried hydrogen peroxide. This liquid is rich in both Oxygen and Hydrogen. Both burn great and the liquid nature of hydrogen peroxide would cool the intake air.

The price isn’t as good as water but may match Methanol.

I just thought I would toss this out for discussion.

I imagine it would deteriorate things in the pump system.

depends on the grade of h202 .. the stuff I use in my pool is 28% hyd. peroxide, you could use that in a pumping system no problem. Rocketry grade stuff, 60% or higher, is too corrosive for typical hardware, but it's also hard to get ahold of

You see, That is what I am talking about. I didn't know there were grades (should of figured). I naturaly thought about the stuff that you clean cuts and burns out with. The stuff that you buy at the corner drug store.

Rocket grade? Well, maybe not that potent.

What grades are there (starting with the medicenal stuff first)?

What grade would be cost effective and safe to run in our trucks that still has some punch? Is it worth looking into?

Rocketry grade stuff is hard to come by and not stable enough for such an application. The stuff from the corner drug store might as well be water, it's usually only about 0.8% concentration. The 30% stuff is part of a pool cleaning system, is readily available, comes in gallons, seems to run around $20 a gallon. It's more expensive than your typical methanol based washer fluid, but it is a higher oxygen content. You'd have to try it to be sure if there were any benefits, not 100% sure, but I bet you could even dilute it further and still have good results

I have been trying to find someone that is a petroleum engineer to give us some ideas. Haven't found one yet. I did find a pool guy that goes to my church. He is interested. He has a 1969 Firebird rag top that he is interested in water injection to improve octane.

I would start low and work up. I don't think 60% would be a good idea, becomes pretty volatile about the 505 range
