Syclone#892 said:Looks real good, only thing I was wondering is why don't you have both jam nuts on the tie rods? The outer tie rod can move slightly if that jam nut isn't there and it will be a little tough to align.
Your truck is looking real good keep up the work.
dgoodhue said:Yes you can do it in the garage on jack stands. I have done 3 suspensions, so I have some experience, but plan on taking 2 day to do it. I could probably do the coilovers in a long day. You need to have the upper bushing of the old A-arms pressed out, then new bushing pressed in and will to cut the frames for clearancing (I use an angle ginder with a thin cutting wheel).
ViciousV6 said:Hey Dave,
Since you have done 3 set-ups. Does it seem that they get stiffer with the coilovers. My chassis guy who helped me seems to think the springs are too heavy for our trucks. The truck has very little give in the front when pushing down on it.
dgoodhue said:I haven't done an RPM suspension. The other big difference between the JS and RPM (beside the ball joint angles) is the higher mounting point of the lower mount. The lower mount mean that you have to compress the spring to get to the desired ride height and effectively give a higher spring rate. This also means the lower the truck the softer the spring rate. (you truck looks to be in the 27" range) You might want to try RPM spring spacers or you could also use a softer spring. Another thing is that you want to set the shocks rebound on the shocks very low, I have set mine at 2 or 3. Dennis Kaese had his shock set to 15 and he was complaining about fillings fall out. Personally my JS suspensions feels similiar to stock except that has lost a lot of the harness that torsion bar had when go over bumps.
ViciousV6 said:Yea it was just about 27 inches but that is with the spacers in it already. We set the springs orginally without them and it was like it was oon bags tire was up in the wells. So the lower shock mount is more of an angle then straight up and down " this is what my chassis guy said and he was saying he thinks i should go to a 450 lb spring since we got 600's with the kit. Mine are at number 2 of 18 settings , we had them at 9 and it was bouncing off the tires not even the suspension.
Do you know what spring JS made with his kits. I saw on TurboTime 575/600/650's so i am asuming the yare almost the same.

I see 1" spacer listed as an option for a stock ride height.
I don't want to keep the stock ride height![]()
