running worse with tune-up

I did a tune-up on my Ty and now it's idling bad. I changed all the plugs with ACDelco and put in Taylor SpiroPro wires. I also replaced the cap and rotor. I thought it might be the timing, so I had it checked. Well, it was set at TDC. Right where it is supposed to be. I just bought some top end cleaner, fuel injuctor cleaner, and silicone vacuum hoses from the GP. Is there anything else I should do that would make it idle better? I did my tune-up because of my slow track times, but it hasn't helped. The fastest I've ran in the 1/8 was 9.38 @ 7*mph. My fastest 60ft. time is 1.99, but my overall time was slower and my trap speed was only 6*mph. Any suggestions?

what # plugs did you install, what is the gap, which cap & rotor did you use, which gp did you get the vac lines from, #1 or #2 (trying to see if you installed them yet). how did it idle before the tune up?????????

I installed CR42 plugs gapped to .035 I think. The cap and rotor are NAPA brand because they didn't carry any other brand and Pep Boys didn't carry a good brand. I ordered the hoses from GP #2. Before the tune-up, my truck idled great. A lot better than most other Typhoons I've seen.

Something happened with one of the items you were working with such as a cracked plug (mentioned)or a wire is not on properly or was damaged upon removal. I will assume the plugs have a ts at the end of the part #. Try autozone for the conrad cap & rotor. I just paid $15.95 for the set #dr2012g. make sure you did not bump & crack a vac. line somewhere. check the #3 plug first. it's the most difficult to install. make sure you did not cross a plug wire on either end or bump a plug on something and close up the gap while trying to find the plug hole. hopefully one of the mentioned possibilities will pop up & you find the problem. let us know.

Am I missing something here? Did you mean that you ordered the vac from #1...

Or is the current vac GP really the 3rd one. I just don't see how he could have had #2 installed yet. If he does cool I send my money now and wait but as far as I've seen it still needs five more orders or 10 days before he even really starts taking money (2pm Fri 3-29)

Try some NGK UR6 plugs. This along with new vacuum hoses cleaned up my idle more than anything else. GM TEC won't hurt either.

This might not be true for every situation - but I will share my story about crossing plug wires.

It will not idle. It will backfire. It will scare the crap out of you. If will make you question your mechanical abilities. It will make you wish you would have marked the plug wires instead of "laying" them in order.
