Scratch one 700R4...

Wouldn't ya know it with about two weeks before the NATS :( . Just cruising to pick up my daily driver. Stop at a light and don't even get on it and a dull "boom" followed by the sound of screeching tires. Accererate to highway speed and see my tach at over 3 grand. I'm thinking "Cool, no overdrive". Stop at another light about 10 miles up the road and that's the last time it moves (forward anyways) under it's own power. All of the forward gears are "neutral" but at least reverse still works. Which was cool because I was able to get out of the middle of the road. The worst part was sitting waiting for the rollback to show up and watching about 50 stangs go by-how embarassing  Nothing like a last minute rebuild before the NATS. Hope I can get everything squared away in time! And I didn't even get to break it racing boo hoo!

Sorry to hear bout the trans Mike. Id be willing to bring the rebuilt 700 to the nats that I got in the garage. Problem is its the first 700 Ive ever had apart and rebuilt. I dunno if youd actually want my first trans rebuild creation.

Dang if you had just waited 2 more weeks you coulda let it die at the nats and then make Myclone take you all the way back home while you drove his Sy!

Mike,

I lost your cell # and you didn't leave it when you called. E-mail me it or get me your # and we'll get your tranny taken care of before the nats. I'm working a lot of weird hours this week, but I will be able to make it over this weekend to help you pull the tranny out.

And your point?? Wouldnt have thought twice about it. If all goes well Im trailering my junk so getting Mike home wouldnt have been a prob. Id just hope, unlike me, hed have at least a shred of toilet paper in the house when we got there after close to 2 days of driving/truck stop food. Poor fella was stuck in the crapper till I could make a WFO trip to the store when we got to my place last year.

Great to hear that your first rebuilt trans works David :D ! Thanks for the offer but, I'm gonna drop mine off this weekend to be rebuilt. And hope that it isn't too FUBARed and I can get it back in time to install before the NATS. Plan to learn how to rebuild transmissions in the future when I have more TIME and money...

Yeah, that's a bummer Ryan. I was hoping that it would die at the NATS while I was making a pass so that I would have had a shot at getting an award (broken truck). I'm trailering out again this year so, getting back home wouldn't have been a problem. Driving David's truck would have been cool, especially if a car full of young girls would have flashed me like they did him last year when he was in MY truck :-?

Josh, I'm not giving you my cell phone number again. So, you had better get it tattooed somewhere so you don't lose it (again) . It was my intention to pull my tranny and come over to your place this weekend and help pull yours but, I guess your plans have changed... Either way, I will drop by this weekend and "bug" you. I'm guessing prolly Saturday.

Anywho, tranny is out of the truck. A BIG THANKS goes out to HuRyde and Blake. Never pulled a transmission before and their info made it all possible. I can't believe that Blake can drop his tranny by HIMSELF in under an hour and 20 minutes. That's insane :p ! But, I guess if ya do it enough times practice makes perfect. Pulled the pan for shits and giggles and no metal chunks. Just a few small metal shavings on the magnetic drain plug.

Until I made it out to GB last year, I vowed that I would never attend a NATS without my truck. But after last year, I decided that my truck wasn't necessary for me to have a good time. So, even if my truck won't make it out this year (knock on wood), I will still attend. Hope to see everyone soon!
