Need some help, i am tuning a guys sy hear in town that just had engine installed from proven race engines by a local shop .the rockford race chip that he had in it is just not close enough for this setup. everthing started good but as soon as we get near boost like 0 psi starts to show knock retard and just gets heavier as you put your foot into and it feels lazy. we didn,t try any more boost after a few tries. the spark tables are low where it starts to knock like 7-9 degrees. i talked to the guys who put the engine in and they said they put a delphi distributer module in for a syclone , other than that pretty straight foward install. base timing is at 0 and the engine has a large cam . any help appreciated thks

What is the A/F at the time of the knock? What injectors are in it? Stock turbo? Stock pump? Stock FPR? What is the Rail Pressure? Is the brown wire for the timing advance/retard hooked up?

stock inj, fuel pressure at 44psi and afr,s at around 11.9 at 1 psi, pt 44 turbo, 3" downpipe , walboro 255 pump, has an after market regulator and sets code 42 i checked the timing with it unhooked then hooked it back up thks

I did not set the base timing on it, the guys who put the engine in set it up , i merely rechecked it. it seems to be ok at zero. it runs pretty good taking it easy on it but as soon as you start to make boost knock retard goes off and up to 14 degrees at 9 psi and no pull. you do not here any detonation though.

I am in the truck now and my timing light does not match the timing i have in my tables. actual timing is much lower and my value that says timing vs referance is 10 deg ish lower than what my spark table has in it

What is the timing light reading at idle?

Nevermind I see your other post. Is the balancer new? if not it could have slipped.

I never knew RR made chips. It's probably a copy of someone's. The chip also could be corrupt. Does it have a sticker over the small window in the middle?

Sorry i am not using the rr chip i am using tp. the timing light matches my value in aldl values but my spark tables (f1) are totally diff and have no effect on the timing. will do more digging tonight thks
