I am puting my front diff together today, i thought i would check the manual since i have never set up a full time front end before. it said the side bearing preload shoul be 103ftlbs, back off right side 2 and in left side 1, that leaves me with about 60-70 ftlbs, that sounds a little to high to me. all the 4x4 front diffs i set up it is both side bearings contact then back off one with leaves you with almost no preload, but it only spins in 4wd.
Rite now i have 30ftlbs on the side bearings 15 on the pinion and .006 backlash and 20ftlbs total assyembly. Has any one set there front diff up the same or differant from the manual? let me know and had any problems.
