So I was at Mopar days at Bandimere yesterday, and have quite the story to tell. I have seen this SoGT there for a few years. I have asked a few people about it, but all I ever hear is that it is a track work truck. But I talked to the driver of it yesterday, and learned quite a bit. At the time he was loading up cones into the bed
Apparently back in '92 GM (or GMC, can't remember 100%) gave the track three Sonoma's, one of which was this GT. Shortly there after the track wanted to see how well this truck would do versus a Typhoon if they gave the GT some mods. They ended up giving it a supercharger
. I didn't hear if they ran it versus a Ty though.
A few years back, the truck was stolen and joy-ridden through Denver (the only time it has left the track from what I hear). Who ever stole it must have pissed off some people becuase when the police recovered the vehicle there were bullet holes down the side of the truck, and a bullet loged in the rear of the drivers seat (there is still a tear in the seat from it). The track got the insurance money, and fixed it.
This truck is NOT for sale (I have asked many people, many times). It is white/grey, has 130k miles on it, but the driver said that those 130k have been VERY hard miles, meaning that this truck has almost literally lived it's life a quarter mile at a time.
I can get pics next time I'm up there if they have that truck out.
