Has anyone ever used one of the Speed-O-Motive 4.3L in their Typhoon/Syclone?? Here is a link to the engine that Im talking about:

I guess my question is this: If you were ever to blow your engine, can you buy that 4.3 and put it into a Typhoon/Syclone or is there some minor difference that makes it a bad idea? It says that particular 4.3 makes 320hp N/A so with a Turbo, Id imagine it would be incredibly potent.

NO, many thing make that engine undesierable for a sy/ty, but more than anything, its the compression ratio, 10.3.1, the stock sy/ty motor is 8.1:1 comrpessionr atio, after about 15lbs of boost, its probaly around 10:1, that motor with 15lbs of boost would probaly fall apart, let alone your stock fueling system wouldnt work for that ect ect

3.55 stroke?

that doesnt sound normal. i bet they are offset grinding the crank journals to give a small improvement in stroke at the expense of crank strength.

thats not something id want to gamble with.

Since they are using a new cast crank, chances are they are getting raw GM castings and finishing them to 3.55, which wouldn't affect it nearly as much (if at all) as taking a seasoned crank and stroking it.

Although my confidence in any shops like Jasper, Speed-o-motive, PAW and the like is near "nil" since seeing the junk a lot of them turn out.

Yes I am aware of that jedi, thank you. I just thought I would dumb it down a little and not get into the semantics of dynamic vs static compression ratios

Really?? What problems have you heard of with Speed-o-motive engines? My dad was thinking about getting one of their 383 Strokers for his Nova.
