Sportmachines transmission lever issue

I installed the modified transmission selector bracket from Sportmachines on my Sy and now cannot get the transmission to lock in the park position. Although it is in park the truck rolls and makes the clicking sound of the parking pall trying to grab. I tried removing and reinstalling the bracket with no success at resolving the issue. Any ideas?

What happens when you disconnect the cable and manually rotate the lever to the park position? If it works fine that way, put the gear selector in park and then hook the cable up while the lever is in park. I've used a couple of them and it might take a bit of adjustment in the slot on the lever to get it perfect.

^^^^ What wheels said. Its most likely the cable and its routing and adjustment, not the bracket. Let us know if we can help further.

Manually it locks in and holds.

I was looking at the service manual and they did not show any cable adjustment. Although I did not look closely when I was down there as the problem showed up once I had it off the jack stands.

Of course it was after it was back down on the ground. If it locks in manually, its definately the cable. Check the routing and adjustment under the center console cover. HTH

Re: Sportmachines transmission lever issue

I bought a lever from another vendor before Sportmachines started offering them. But I had this issue. I did the things described above. Except I didn't know it could be adjusted at the shifter end. I cured it by bending the bracket forward. That allowed the lever to be pushed far enough into position.
