Starting from scratch

Well, looks like I now need another block!

# 2 main threaded hole has a crack from the "previous" injury.

It is very obvious that engine was severely over-boosted/leaned, resulting in:
1. # 2 & # 3 Mains distorting and spinning inserts, cracking the block (the "knocking" identified by Scott of A&S Automotive)
2. 2 broken top rings - remaining 4 top rings all collapsed
3. 1 piston "bubbled" on top from detonation
4. 1 piston slightly beat up on top from broken ring and/or spark plug debris
(the scattered PTE51 Turbo, a result of this)
5. Numerous gallings of cylinder walls and pistons (above top ring grooves).
6. 5 of 6 rod big-ends out of round

Here's what I got (getting)

RPM Block coming -
Stress bore & hone to 4.030"
Milodon 4-bolt, splayed main caps 1,2&3, align bored, w/ ARP Studs
Balance RPM nitrided crank to L35 Rods & JE Pistons*
Re-re-size big end of rods
cam & main/rod bearings

Pocket port and gasket match L35 heads (I know, I know - but it's $100.00 vs. $1000.00+ for the Vortec upgrade).

ARP head bolts, Pioneer balancer.
ATR headers, downpipe & turbine housing sent to Jet-Hot for coating.

*Didn't notice this before, but 1 piston doesn't have the micro-grooves cut above the 1st ring - is stamped JE ### underneath - same as other 5! I will probably cut it to match the others.

Don't see any reason to keep the W2A - going to install A2A.

Has anyone else here bought a truck that "only needed tuning" and drove it less that 35 miles? :squint:

Yep, bought mine drove it about 35 miles when it lost #2 piston from over boost. Previous owner was cool and gave some money back to help in the re-build.
