Stock wheels painted anyone?

I'm kind of bored with my stock wheels but I don't want to buy a new set because im running drag radials on all 4 so it would be very expensive for 4 wheels plus 4 new D.r.'s

I was thinking last night maybe a wheel color change would help some.
I thought about maybe a medium or darkish gray....like anthracite might look cool.

Has anyone fully painted, powder coated, plasti dipped or otherwise change the color of their stock wheels?

If so let's see em!!!

IMHO, plastidip them, that way you're not committed. Just do like 5-7 layers on it. Get bored or don't like it, just rip it off and start again.

I'm in the same boat as you... I'm gonna have mine powder coated the argent cladding color and slap them on the hovercraft..

I started sanding and polishing to make then look like Chrome . I don't know if clear coat will keep them looking nice longer

Behind the links below, you'll find a couple of pics with grey painted stock wheels. I don't like them so I'm planning to restore them to stock look. Or in fact I'll start with another set which have been painted with lighter grey (or silver), but very poorly - the paint is stripping of with just a pressure washer. But I did also consider plastidipping. At least it's easy to go back if you don't like it.

I still like the end result on my stockers. Were severly pitted through the clear coat. Alot of prep. Argent the inserts and clear Por-15 the whole wheel. TNPhoon has a valid point. Anything easily reversible might be the way to try first. If you like it, then permanent it.

Does the clear POR15 have UV protection?

Does the clear POR15 have UV protection?
I really didn't ask....or look @ the label. They said it was as durable, or more so, than auto clear. I first shot with rattle can wheel clear that was anti-yellowing. Didn't hold up well. Stripped, re-painted and shot the Por. It is a 2 part that hardens with humidity, so a dryer climate to shoot it, then I let them sit for a week before wet sanding and buffing. Very stinky stuff.

You know.... it might be, because it is the top coat for the colored Por that does NOT have protectant.
