Stripped dash trim screws

I have noticed a lot of the S-Series plastic dashes have screws that are overtightened and stripped out.

What is an easy fix for this besides going to a lag bolt to hold your trim on?

I used to fill them with JB weld and then just redrill a pilot hole, anytihng easier?

I've done the whole super glue thing, but for a more permanent/easier fix just go down to your local car parts/hardware store and pick up some metal "clamps." I don't know what they're called but they are metal tabs you put over plastic and the metal hold the screw in place.
For the areas that won't allow a clip to slide over plastic you can super glue the metal to the back of the plastic and screw into it. Sorry I don't have any names and for the vague description.

It is pretty common in all sorts of plastic applications really. People just start threading the screws in and after a few removals the plastic "threads" are gone. A trick I learned from my dad was to turn the screw the wrong way until you feel it "step down." This lets you know you are at the beginning on the threaded area. Otherwise each time you put a screw in plastic it is going to create new threads. I tested this theory on a junkyard dash with clear plastic and a screw - this way I could see what the threads were doing. It followed the original marks - pretty neat to watch (man I have a boring life).

So.......................as far as your question - I have used Super Glue. The only thing that kinda sucks about it is the glue sticks to the screw sometimes when you remove it. It still comes out - but then you have to do the same thing over again - sometimes.
