I'm in the final stages of a month and a half long weekend project. this built motor came from Silverblaz with 5k miles on it. picture album link http://picasaweb.google.com/112889300525242363615/SycloneTeardownAndRebuild?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCIa5t5DgitCTRg&feat=directlink some background on this build:
4 bolt main
cryoed stock crank
custom comp cam
je pistons, eagle rods
ported vortec heads
60# injectors
pte 6152 turbo
alky injection
custom tuned by nolan
stage 3 bowtie overdrives 700r4
3000 stall 9/11 converter
braided trans lines
a2a FMIC
air conditioning!
modified 05 GTO dual electric fans wired for a/c override and controllable by ecm
abs removed
trans cooler in lower CAC position
methanol rerservoir wired to "low coolant" light on dash

11/3/2012: I got some time to work this weekend and was able to get the new intercooler core mounted. I also cut and fit dual electric fans, put in the downpipe, and installed alky pump. I have about 10 hours each weekend to work and some weekends I go farther backward then forward. I broke two bolts (1 putting in the tps, another in the throttle body cover plate) so that took up a lot of time last week. I sent my torque converter out to Fivetodrive (Aaron Timm thanks for the help) to get looked at and I'm waiting on that to come back. curently have a 2200 installed. New issue to tackle is figuring out a way to mount a trans cooler in the spot where the lower CCHE used to be. The truck is close to being done though

This is why I like you Vince, you always leave us with a positive spin/life lesson. If you are going to take AC out of a car, make sure you have 4 others with it.

No act here. But i almost never drive the truck on sunny days. Strictly when the sun goes down. This way none can really see how ugly the truck is. Lol

hated cuz he drives fords
Re: Sy #877 build up

No AC here I used it once in 7 years just to see if it worked before I removed it and the only down side to it is that if you have to sell.. people piss and moan about it not having AC

Re: Sy #877 build up

I bought sy-1177 with no a/c and I'm going to the trouble of finding parts and putting a working system back together. I say keep it.

But then they'll be the first to rip it out. ;) I ended up ripping mine out when I saw the cost associated with recharging it. I was @ .75lbs remaining when I had my system evaluated.

I do my own a/c work and I have just under 30lbs of R12. I should be set for this life time anyway.

I Love My Ty's
Re: Sy #877 build up

I have front mount A2A and kept my AC with a PTE6765 turbo. There was no problem making it fit.

My Ty is far from stock and it could be street driven daily if I chose to. Even modded these trucks when tuned properly drive great on the streets.

Re: Sy #877 build up

If it's going to be a street truck why remove it? My Ty made over 700hp, half filled block, drives fine on the street with the ac, I would only remove mine if I need the room for a bigger intercooler.... A lot of the streetability has to do with the tune.:2cents:

Keep it. Even driving my Ty I'd be in a bad mood if my back was all sweaty. I hate leather seats too, but I'll keep them just because it came that way...

I still have my AC and my GT37 is huge and it still fit. I also have 2 kids and they need the AC more than I do. I say keep it.

Re: Sy #877 build up

Well i vote for keeping it. I have a 4in core fmic, pte turbo, and a/c it fits fine. No cooling issues either
