Anyone know of a resource I can use to study variances in different generations of the 4.3L?
I am researching the possibilty of a Sy/Ty engine or hybrid Sy/Ty/Vortec combo as an alternative to the 5.7 swap I have been getting ready to pull the trigger on for my '96 4.3L S10 4x4.
My research goal is to find out the most cost effective 450rwhp long block build I can come up with that will bolt into my truck and allow me to use my existing AC and accessories if possible.
For example, questions I would have; Is the SyTy crank forged and is it compatable with my current block? Or do I not even need an upgraded crank? Would a full SyTy longblock bolt up into my truck if I took care of the engine management system on my own? Etc Etc.
I am not concerned with the manifolds, turbo(s) or plumbing, as I can fabricate that myself. Right now I am just trying to figure out the long block / intake mani combination that would be the most compatable with my truck.
