Tape for flex-a-forms?

I just got some 240 2" drop flex-a-forms for my Typhoon. The little instruction card that came with it said to "tape spring to protect from track debris" as well as "for racing only". I'm assuming the for racing only is a liability dodge but I was wondering about the tape. I haven't heard of anyone here using tape (including the flex-a-form tips / instruction page someone has) and I was wondering what sort of tape is best, etc. I was thinking I would use electrical tape. Thanks.

I did not use any tape... and I read the instructions, I think???

Just do not over tourqe the U bolts, 50 or 60 ft lbs I think.

I talked to Flex-a-form and they said that the tape issue is an old one and they no longer recommend it, they just haven't removed the it from the instructions yet.
