TB mod

I did this a few weeks ago and forgot to post it up. That annoying vacuum fitting on the TB that has a cap on it? I got tired of replacing it due to cracking and leaking so I just plugged it up with a copper plug.

What I did was use a easy out for rounded off bolts to remove the vacuum nipple. Then I went to Ace Hardware and picked up a tap and copper plug to work without having to drill anything. Worked out great. Tap and copper plug info in pic:

Final result:

Just make sure you clean out you TB very good to get the metal shavings out. I pulled the TB off to clean it anyways so wasn't any extra work for me.

Looking good bro.. Great minds think alike... I pulled both of my fittings on my billet TB, tapped them with a 3/8" and 1/4" npt, and put stainless socket head plugs in the holes..

Makes them useable later if need be...

That's why I like it, if I need it for some odd reason, I can jus put a threaded nipple like the one on the side of the tap. Plus, I know it's not going to rot out or blow off or leak at all. I didn't even have to drill it out either.

Re: TB mod

Not to hijack, but to keep TB mods in one easy to find location. I modded my TB in a little different way to get rid of the unused coolant fittings. I removed the plate with the two hose fittings then cut them both off and ground them smooth. I taped the holes from the outside, then poured Devcon in the holes and allowed it to set. (the Devcon I used is like an epoxy, but contains aluminum in a liquid form) once it hardened I removed the tape and reassembled. Just sharing other mod options. Best of all it keeps the smog inspectors happy cause there are no disconnected fittings that they always seem to have a problem with.

Re: TB mod

I did the same to the coolant passages, but I even went as far as too flatten the one on the left in the above picture and then blend it in. As with most SyTy owners we have serious OCD problems :)

I honestly didn't think of that, but I like that idea! Damn, this is going to bother me. I also like the weld bead to help hold the coupler on. The piece Aeroking posted is pretty sweet as well. This thread is getting really good.
