I just purchased another new throttle body for my truck.
I was under the impression it was OEM/specific to the trucks.
Not too long ago I purchased a real nice holley 58mm unit and it was similar. Similar in the way which it had to need work performed to it to make it all function correct on a syclone/typhoon engine setup.
I ended up getting all the parts, but I bailed out on project and sold it all. Too much work for me. (in my eyes) I am not set up machine shop and could not handle the tolerances.
So.. My truck now is apart and I am cleaning almost every part on the truck and it either gets cleaned/stored or put on. I recently snapped a fastner in my TB and was faced with finding something new.
My latest dilemma is I purchase this new OEM throttle body listed as Syclone/Typhoon. Here I get the throttle body and it has the nubs on it like it was a Camaro throttle body. When I purchase my Holley unit it was similar era Camaro. What bugged me out was I removed the new unit from box and it was not like my original sy-ty throttle body which I thought this was going to be. A direct bolt on. Again with this part, I have to modify or make it work and I was really not looking to do that route. Requires grinding or machining them off.
I am just wondering what you guys think I just tried to clear this up with the seller, knowing it was listed incorrect or some type of corvette/camaro part.
Do they all need to be modified? my goal was to find something to just bolt on and be done with it. Upon rectifying this with the seller on ebay, he just basically ended his message with good luck with my engine build. I wanted to return it because seems it was not listed correctly.
Or am I wrong and do they all come like this and require the mod to work? Right now I am not looking to go back and fourth with the seller. Id rather see what everyone else thinks or gather some knowledge on this.
Here is a picture of my old one that a fastner broke, but it has pins removed.
Here is the new one (left with the nubs) and my old one right with out
Thanks.
