Re: To hot to handle with no ac

can you switch between the two or is it always on both at the same time?

I had the same problem in a different vehicle.

Vacuum leak was the cause. There was a cracked line directly behind the control panel for the a/c

Check the tube that runs on the pass side of the truck under the TB. Mine used to do this with only 1 tie wrap on each end every now and then, when into boost and only at the front of the tube. I replace the whole tube with vacuum line. Problem solved on mine anyways.

You may very well have to get into your dash to figure out what is going on. The main vacuum source is on the firewall behind the intake as has been said.

Mine was acting up when I first go it too. No matter what setting you put it on, you would always have air coming out the heat vent.

I took it apart and found that the flapper for the heat vent had been put together incorrectly and it broke the little plastic clip that connects the flapper to the vacuum controller for it. I could tell that someone had the dash out because of a blown heater core-----------they didn't bother to clean up all of the coolant out of the carpets and such inside the truck. Nice huh?

Anyway, I had looked at several different vacuum controllers behind the dash while trying to figure out my problem. One down by the heat vent and another behind the glove box come to mind. There is also one down behind the pass side kick panel.

If you don't find a problem with the main vacuum at the line on the firewall, then you might want to start looking at all of these contollers and the vacuum lines for them to see if this is where your problem lies. You could also have a problem with the actual control unit on the dash as well.

Good luck with your problem.

Oh, and if you ended up needing one of those plastic clips that I was talking about, GM still sells them at the dealership and they are real cheap.
