Re: torsion bars

when I bought my ty new, the left front was low. After replacing ball joints bushings, shocks and torsion bar mounts the left still sits low. I can crank the torsion bar as much as I want and it doesn't go up over 27 1/2" wheelwell height. The pass side is barely turned in and it sits at 28"? Any suggestions at this point would be great. Anyone want to donate a set of torsion bars? I would like to buy the coilover but not till I find what's going on.

Just my .02 but it sounds like the torsion bar is not in the A-arm correctly, there is some preload when you install them. I seem to remember somebody else having same problem. The passenger side is different from the driver side. I have only removed them (for my coil overs) so I have never installed them. Maybe somebody else explain it better. I also have some torsion bars sitting around if you want to try them out.

I think that somebody may have been me. I turned the bar to every notch I could with no change. I would love to try your bars if you would let me. If I can solve this I willl be ordering coilover kit anyway. I just neef to know.

Re: torsion bars

Not sure what you need to know if you are buying coil-overs anyway. Only issue changing your ride height (that I can think of) besides torsion bars (or the way they are being installed) would be a bent or tweaked frame. And that's easy to figure out. I would double and triple check your install. If you can, inspect everything where the adjustment area is, like the chop, mounts, bolt. But it does sound like the bar is not inserted in to the arm properly.

Re: torsion bars

Dumb question:

Is the bar in the right way? I believe there is a front and a back.

Try switching it around. :dunno:
