Towing-Typhoon???

Was wondering if anyone could give me a little insight I am trying to decide either to buy another blazer or get what ive always wanted...Typhoon... I am wondering if anyone can tell me what I can do to make the ty a little more Tow friendly or any information regarding towing. Not trying to tow much just a small 14' fishing boat, a stand up jetski and every now and again a very small trailer. Nothing big but I know the Ty isn't designed to tow but I want one real bad. Thanks for any help

i forget exactly what it says but i know when i open my tailgate on my ty there is a sticker thats says something like "THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INTENDED TO TOW , DAMADGE WILL OCCUR" .....

my Sy reads "not to carry more then 500#'s" I have already had over 800 in it with no problem.

Towing + boost = transmission death. Typhoon already has more weight to haul around than a Sy, hence the no tow rating. The misconception is that the ELC system is not up to the task, when in reality it will handle the weight within it's limits (meaning it will allow the rear to sag vs overinflating the shocks).

trans is the weak link.......You're going to break it anyway, might as well break it while towing.

I've heard of several guys towing jet-skis with Typhoons. Those are crazy light though, ~1k lbs including trailer and everything. I'd say anything under 1,500lbs you'll be fine so long as you aren't trying to boost launch your boat out of the water, or at every stop light. If you want to tow more, get some airbags for the rear, and get a 4L80E.....then tow away IMO. Just keep an eye on the boost gauge, and stay out of boost as much as possible, since high amounts of time in boost = high IATS = knock = death to motor......

I tow with my Ty. I have a small Harbor Freight trailer, 40 inches x 48 inches plus the tongue, to tow my sons racing kart to the track. The kart weighs 240lbs with him in it, and the trailer weighs about 180 lbs, so evn with some tools I bet I am under 500 lbs.

Even with this light load, it is very easy to be into boost when trying to drive normal. The extra load brings up the boost, and that is what will kill you. I say you can tow with a Ty if you are carefull. Watch your boost gauge, and dont be in a hurry.

Heck, install a manual boost control and turn boost down to say 5 or 6 psi for towing... I agree though, tranny and high temps are going to kill you
