Has anyone ever traded in their Ty on a vehicle? I probably need to get a different daily driver and don't need 4 cars, so I was looking at parting with the Ty. It's an average 92 with 107,xxx miles. Turbo is blowing smoke, but I've got a turbo to replace it. The right rear cladding is broke, but I've got the NOS cladding to replace it. What do you think, do the repair work and try to sell it or just part with it on a trade in at a dealer?Comments? Ideas?

I agree you can get more by selling, however, it doesn't seem like many are selling. I've looked at the BB and it's seems like there are a lot of trucks that no one is buying. Granted, someone could be asking way too much for their truck and that may be why it hasn't sold.

Its not just your TY but the whole used car market has been hurt by the really great offers such as 0% interest on new cars. Too easy right now to get a new auto than used. Its hard to find anyone that can pay cash for things now days. Been trying to sell my K-5 Blazer for over a year now and no luck... Don't feel naked!

One of the credit unions around here will loan money for vehicles that are older than 7 years. 7 years used to be the cut-off. My brother just bought a '72 Nova with a used car loan. He'll let me know on here if I got the year wrong.
My thoughts about trading it in is that I don't have a vehicle sitting in the driveway waiting to get busted into, stolen, etc. I don't have the space for another vehicle. I don't like the idea of the Ty sitting outside now, but that's the way it's got to be.
So, anyone interested in buying a 92 Ty?

For peoples info, I checked at Kelley Blue Book and a 92 Ty in fair condition is valued at $7100. If you check NADA the low value is $12,500 and the high is $22,500. I figure the NADA is for selling as a private party and uses the collectible value. My guess is Kelley Blue Book is for trade-in and just determines values like it's an option package for a 2dr Jimmy.

If you would like to do us, and yourself, a fantastic service, then do this:
Go find out how much you can get for the Ty as a trade-in. Add $x00 to that number where x is a number between 0 and 9 (stick to three digits please). Then tell us what it is.
This way you make more than trade-in, and you do a service for the community.

DO NOT trade it in, i used to work in the used buis. and they WILL steal it just sell it for a few k lower and let that be that. Publish it in the autotrader so its on the net, not the local newscraper, and wait. This is how i got my sy and it was both good for me and the seller. Just be prepared to be geting phone calls from all over the country :lol:
