Trans is apart

Stab it and steer it
You can look up my other gazillion posts on my motor rebuild but while it's out I took the 700 to the shop for inspection. Bear in mind this trans is the original box running behind a stock motor with some help. (See sig) There are prolly 500 passes on this box. I started racing on '05 and raced seriously (almost weekly) in '06, '7, & 8. Trans had no signs of failure, shifted hard, no smell to oil, very little (almost a paste) metal in pan. I really debated even taking it apart.

Finally decide, shop takes trans apart and it looks great. Planets look good clutchs and steels are all OK. We're gonna put a the HP overhaul kit in it, a Beast sun shell, HD bands, and that's it. I'm adding my own, higher stall, TC. We'll see how it does behind the the new motor.

Re: Trans is apart

Make sure when you install your bands (or before I should say) that you make sure the reverse drum is flat so it doesn't trash a band. I assume you are going to use a wide band, if this is the case, definitely want to check that.

Re: Trans is apart

Thanks Mike. I'll double check with the builder but I think he's doing that. One thing I like is it's a small shop and the owner does all his own builds. His mech. only does the the R&R work.
