truck no start?

So last week it was a late sunday, truck died and had to be towed.

tonite- just started at 7- its now 10 30, truck died on road and would not start. Battery drained out real quick? Im having a real hard time grasp the issues with truck when its been issue with injectors, tune, fuel issue. its all the same. Truck would not fire. I dumped more gas in it thinking it was fuel. really didnt tell me anything or do much.

I had a cop help, and I made it a mile or 2, than it left me on the side again, and again. It just was a f*************** nightmare to deal with. And than it just cut out. CUT out. lights, everything still lit up no drive no steer no brake.

I just got in and im pretty frazzled right now probably need to go take a downer and relax im about to sell my truck

I dont even know where to start this time.

Re: truck no start?

Cranks- Dont seem to want to supply with fuel. Battery drain out real fast, leaving me with no option but jumpers. Had a f350 PS with 2 larger batteries and it didnt really do anything to my battery. I had better luck with a car battery. Truck seems to run for a less than a minute and turns off. It gets fuel dont want to stay going. No battery light or anything. Did the aldl wire jump and it flashed 12-. seems like no codes. no problems. Funny thing is I havent been tinkering with anything or working on truck. Just decided to die on on me in like the middle of the worst 5 point intersection.

Re: truck no start?

what is the fuel pressure at? you need to check that and see if its correct psi. even if your geting fuel it doesnt mean that the its getting enough for the truck to stay running. also i would take out the alternator and get it bench tested somewhere for free at autozone, oreallys/oreillys or crapa/napa. just to rule it all out. and check your grounds at your battery because side post battery like to form corrosion between the connector cable plat e that gets screwed itno the battery. good luck buddy if you need anything let me know!

Re: truck no start?

you need to make sure the fuel pressure at the rail is where its supposed to be. what kind of fuel pump did you buy? and why did you replace it? what mods do you have? is the battery at least 12 volts when you put an volt meter acorss it?

Re: truck no start?

getting spark? it could also be the coil which you can ohm out and see if its where it needs to be ! and you can take out the ignition module insdie the distributor and bring it in to autozone or oreillys to ge it tested for free. it has to be breaking down somewhere, just need to do process of elimination! ill need more info if you can tell me more ill help you try to diagnose it!

Re: truck no start?

I am working on trying to get it going to probe my battery to get voltage when it is running.

About the module, I have already replaced everything. its a brand new part. did it fry already? I cant see that thing going so soon.

I had a similar situation in my Camaro when my new fuel pump was going bad. It would overheat then just shut off a few mins/miles later. This was a brand new walbro with maybe 75-100 miles tops on it.. Now I didn't have the electrical issues you seem to have but like others said before, check your fuel pressure. Then make sure u have spark. Some things working fine but suddenly cutting off.

Re: truck no start?

I took a break and went back to it. Started the truck up no problem. Than check voltage, it is making 14+v when running so the alternator is producing juice to system. I turned headlights on and truck died out. I ended up switching fuel pump relays out for the AC one (correct?) it started but died within 45 seconds running.

I did notice the tach going backwards when it should have been reading rpm it is bouncing back for some reason never seen this one.

Slow charge the battery and start all over,if the battery is not full it can cause all kinds of problems. My truck would run fine after I charged the bat I could drive it all around then it would not start. Turned out the battery had a bad cell and no charge from the alt. Remeber a good batt will be 12.6v

Re: truck no start?

Check the alt output and BENCH TEST it at a local parts store it mat have crappy regulator that's sucking the battery down and then you have to jump it

Re: truck no start?

Get a trouble tree for no starts from a good/nice gm mechanic or go to a parts store that has alldata for a one year subscription for .$26 or kick on over to the public library they might have it. Last resort go onto eBay and buy a factory manual. Wish I was there to help buddy! Good luck

I have PDFs of the SyTy No Start flow chart that I can email, though this intermittent no start may be trickier.

Re: truck no start?

Probing around this morning with a test light. I tested everything in the fuel pump relay section chart a-5 page 6E3-A-19.

When I got half way down to step 1 above "light on" I had problems. I connect test light between terminals A and ground. Light was lit. No need to turn ignition on bulb was lit already? Says its supposed to either go out or be off and go on for 2 seconds. Neither happned.

Goes into detail next trouble block to replace fuel pump relay. I swapped out the a/c for fp. and nothing happned.

Can this be oil pressure switch related due to it is a back up for fuel pump.
