Turbo Suggestions

I have been doing a decent amount of reading and research on what the next turbo I should install is. I have been looking at the GT35R and the 25G turbo. Those are the obvious options. What I am wondering is. How fast are you guys going with these turbos?

Thanks

Re: Turbo Suggestions

I would use a GT35R, but I am little biased since my truck uses a GT35R compressor wheel. It should have the potential to run 11's in Typhoon with your mods and high boost.

I am leaning towards that turbo. It bolts right onto the stock set up. Right?
I'm thinking that with that turbo the truck should run solid 12's at 6000 feet.

You will need a different down pipe. I think the AC bracket will need to be clearances and you will need to hose to connect the turbo outlet to the stock I/C (if you are using that, I am using an aftermarket A2A IC). You will easily run out of injector as well.

The better question is, what's your turbo budget? A new gen 2 Garrett is gonna be around $2000.

Re: Turbo Suggestions

Hmmmm I think I will go with the GT35R. How much boost are you pushing out of that turbo?

I have only run unto 18psi. I don't have a built motor, so I haven't been pushing the turbo. It ran high 11's @115 with 14.5psi and 19 degrees of timing. I think with a better launch and more agressive timing I can get to run mid 11's with around 15psi. I have 9.3:1 CR (balance shaft motor) and Vortec heads.

How much boost do you run now on 10:1? I feel like both of those will drop out of efficiency pretty quick at low PR

I am running close to 20 pounds of boost with the 10:1. That is what I am running at the track. For daily driving I have it turned down to about 14 pounds.

Re: Turbo Suggestions

My truck has a GT35R and it is stupidly good. It is only just getting going at 15psi. Have you looked at the compressor map and worked out how much turbo you need? If my trans wasn't giving me thebissuea it has, I would be hoping for some serious numbers from the turbo and engine. When it did run, with meth, it spun all 4 on occasion.

You will not be disappointed with a GT35R. You need to think about your torque converter and your cam as well.

Re: Turbo Suggestions

It might be worthwhile to look at BW s362, only problem is that the frames are huge on them but should perform very close to the gtx3582r and can be had for around $950 new, just a thought. I'm actually surprised you can get up to 20, nice

Might want to consider fixing your Knock retard issue before upgrading turbos. An upgraded turbo with a KR issue won't make your KR problem any better.

I know what the problem is and I a in the process of fixing it. I am just trying to get ahead of the game.

Don't forget you need to get a turbo with a SYTY exhaust housing or you have to use a t3/t4 adapter.
