Has anyone run any holset turbos h1c or hw40 i know the h1c fits but is somewhat laggy on a stock stall.

Re: turbo

If your housings are intact ( no cracks, worn spots) you might b able to reuse them. Babbitt bearings must have play. The oil tightens it up once in operation. New parts must be balanced. I'd let a pro do it. It's a vital part and plus it would probably come with a bit of warranty. Just my thoughts.

Re: turbo

But people have rebuilt turbos without balance? I have but to larger diesel engine type turbos tolerances are much larger then auto use. I.never balanced them but then again they wouldnt spin any more then 2k rpms on them motors.

Re: turbo

I don't doubt it but there have to be other stories of grenading turbos as well. It's up to you. I'm just saying it's not a place to skimp. Only on way to find out for your application.

Re: turbo

I am thinking of selling a spare stock-rebuilt turbo that I have. No miles on it since rebuild. I have a wastegate also, however, it wasn't refinished. Was rebuilt by TurboAuto in Nashville. They did 2 for me. This one, the only flaw is that the fins aren't 110%. The nut came off the end of it and bounced around on the fins. After that happened it was taken back to TurboAuto again and taken apart and cleaned/rebuilt again and there should be absolutely 0 performance issues out of it.

I was thinking $350obo if I list it?
