What kind of build you going to go with WYO? Gonna keep that stage 1 on your new build?

I would def be in if you decide to do this in the sub 1000 dollar range.

Of even more value, would be a cam/heads/60# injector/specific turbo bin that would work with it all.
People try to mix/match parts, and don't match the tune to what they have.

Kind of my thought Dig. I'm thinking that if my head builder can come through with a reasonable price on the L35s that maybe I'd make duplicates sets available. Since I've got the new 60#'ers to go on the Sy I'll be doing the tune... just need to do my homework on a cam/turbo/converter combo.

60# injectors, the L35's, Comp roller rockers, cam yet to be determined, probably a 9/11 converter..... and probably NOT the Stage1.... I need to do a bunch of research on the turbo/cam combo.

Re: Turn-key L35 head package

I just talked with my head guy and he's willing to put together some L35 packages for us.

I'll probably spec out one basic package (good springs, valves, seals, magnafluxed, boiled, assembled), then spec out a second package with upgraded springs, valves, seals, titanium retainers and keepers, port work, etc.

In just the short discussion that I had with him it looks like the prices will be reasonable.

I've spent the past two weeks putting together a spreadsheet of all available 4.3 heads, based on casting numbers, so now I know which are the good, and great, castings... I'll use the great castings for the upgraded package and the good castings for the standard package. I'll try to get about 3 sets of each package in stock before I announce that they're ready.... stay tuned!

As I get my new motor put together and tuned I'll follow Dig's suggestion and put out a recommended head/turbo/cam/tune parts list with the tune available over at Code59.

Re: Turn-key L35 head package

what kind of gain would "good heads" and a basically stock bottom end be hp wise 350+?

Re: Turn-key L35 head package

I would be interested in the entire set and have the money available when the combo is ready for sale.

Nolan's combos and my truck on L35's are proof that you can go fast on a simple, thought-out combo. I would be willing to go so far as say that you can run a 9 on L35's if your budget demands it. I know I am on that doorstep right now...maybe when the tracks open again next year.

Too many variables for a direct answer.... the cam/turbo/tune combination could take it anywhere from stock hp, up to a 200hp gain. You could tune for stock, or slightly elevated hp levels and just enjoy the reduction in KR (if the tune is correct)...... or you can add the parts, turn up the boost, dial in the tune and do what QBN is doing :D

Don't want to annoy, but any word on the heads? I am considering a L35 build, but would prefer to buy some from someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks

No prob. I'm looking for a source for the raw heads. The eBay guys want $225 to $275 per pair. I know that I could get them at a pick a part for $100, but we don't have any near by. I do have the machinist all lined up and he's ready to go. I just need to find a source for the heads that will sell them reasonably.... I don't want them being any more expensive for you guys than what they should be.
