Typhoon Interior Color?

Hello all,

I recently purchased a 93 Typhoon here in Reno. The truck has 37,xxx miles on it and was in excellent mechanical shape. The body however was somewhat abused and needed some TLC. Anyway, the previous owner had draped a cell phone holder over the glove box that proceeded to wear off the paint in several places. The glove box door is not scratched, just missing paint in several places.

I have been to several auto paint shops, nobody can figure out what color this truck was. If anyone knows the paint/color codes, or an aftermarket paint that matches, please let me know.

Thanks,
Frank

ICQ: 34378091

P.S. My truck is garnet red and silver, Production # 0453, has a K&N air box and a dealer emblem (removed) from De Marois Olds, GMC, in Missoula Montana. The intake manifold says "Syclone", do all Ty's says this? Also..if anyone knows the prior history of this truck, mods, etc, please let me know. It seems to shift awfully firm in 1-2 and 2-3.

It's just standard GM charcoal gray.
All the intakes say "Syclone"

You just bought one of the rarest colors out there.I bet they didn't make 10 in Garnet.

Oh yeah, just in case, here's the code for Garnet: WA-9096

Thanks for the info. Yah, although I personally am not a huge fan of that color (I had a 92 blazer in garnet red a while ago), I have never seen a Ty in that color.

I message Rich from Carson City (the gentlemen who first wrote about this truck), hope to meet him soon and learn a few things :)

I already had the truck at the body shop, had all dings removed (but one in tailgate, sigh), had the grill and hood recleared and the entire truck buffed out, it looks nice. I never had a Ty before and so far I think it's the coolest Turbo car (truck) I have owned. If anyone wants to buy my TTA with 53k on it, let me know, lol.

Regards,
Frank

race or get outta the way
drop the glove box door or the ash tray off at the supplier the body shops use in your area. Tell em to call you when they have a pint mixed up of a perfect match.

That may be the same truck.

You can almost see a sticker on the back window that is up in that pic.

I droooled all over this truck in KC, that'd be one of my Fav color combos.

Welcome and good job.

Wow, you guys are really a tight knit and friendly group. I was a member of a GN and a TTA group, nobody seemed as knowledgeable or friendly like you guys are. I'm certainly glad I found this place.

As far as the truck goes, that picture is the identical color, in fact if that sticker is actually there, combined with the two tiny holes in the front bumper for the license plate (mine has them, no bracket, screw holes are small tho), it's possible that pic is of the truck I bought.

I'm intrigued with the rarity of the color option after seeing all you guys post, I'll try and get more info on the # of Garnet/Silver Ty's produced.

I talked to Rich via mail tonight and I hope to meet up with him and others one of these weekends. I guess there's a handful of Sy/Ty owners in the Reno area. If the weather is decent I'll take some pics and put them up for you guys. You all seem to know more about this truck than I do, lol.

Thanks again,
Frank

shit jas...

you may be right... i think they are the same truck... as i recall, the pic of the truck at KC99 i posted did have low mileage?

i dont remember it being abused or needing body work however....though, that pic was back in 99... so a few years have gone by.

like Jimmy said... there are no hard facts stating on how many of each color was made...

for some reason, 50 seems to be this magical number that everyone uses... if its a rare color, automatically, 50 were produced  why everyone says that, i dont know.

some other rare colors are:

radar blue/radar blue - only 2 made, confirmed.
rasberry/rasberry
garnet/gry
royal blue/gry
aspen blue/gry - theres a few on the board
red/red - not to rare, but not seen alot
