Ugh.. Ty pass rear cladding needed

Ya guys.. Not to happy about this.. Rolling some tires in the garage off my SS and ended up falling over.. Breaking the corner piece near the tire off... So I need the passenger rear corner cladding... Prefer white but any color will do.. Might still try to get it fixed but I hate this happened..

Think I'm just gonna try to repair it.. I did some searching but didn't see anything particular on the corner cladding removal.. Do I need to remove back bumper to get this off? I was so upset I didn't even look to see how the piece comes off. What size bits do you guys use for rivet drilling?

Edit.. Found to use a small punch and 1/4 bit. Adding to list of stuff needed to fix this

Remove rear bumper to expose the back two rivets. Easiest to remove wheel to remove eyebrow cladding. bolt on eather side of eyebrow attaches to other cladding pieces, then 4 screws around the eyebrow. Three screws or rivets on the bottom of corner piece and one (on a Sy) in wheel well. pull bottom away, then up til the top edge clears the pucks. Install in reverse. :D

Be gentle. Even the NOS pieces I just got are VERY brittle.

As buddy told me when mine got cracked its just a part, not worth getting upset. My passenger rear corner took a blast from a 20 inch drag wheel and tire or some crazy thing. It rolled down a drive way full speed and right into my corner cladding. Since my truck is OEM finish I am having a hard time finding one that hasnt been repainted already or that isnt already smashed. It continued to be on my truck broken almost for two years now.

Re: Ugh.. Ty pass rear cladding needed

I just got a pm from someone on here having the corner piece for a decent price.. So if I can't fix this ill be buying it for replacement.. Everything was going so smooth on the typhoon to this year.. Gonna pick up a 1/4 bit tonight, a tiny punch, and some Fiberglas and see what I can do.. If it decent gonna pick up some paint tomorrow and body glaze. I'll try to post a pic tonight, the iPad won't let me upload pics

We've seen so many repairs and pieces.... we really don't recommend using fiberglass. It adds so much weight, and although it sticks, theres better ways to finish it and make it look much better in our opinion. If you want us to take a look at repairing it, lmk. Thanks

Re: Ugh.. Ty pass rear cladding needed

came off super easy.. everything unbolted as it should after letting it sit in some wd40 for a bit. As for the 2 rivets in back, the upper one i ended up drilling which only took a few min, while the bottem rivet wasnt even properly done so it just popped right off.. Its getting sent to sportmachines first thing in morning for repair!!

So if I am reading this correctly, to remove the back corner, gonna have to remove bumper cladding AND the "eyebrow" arch?

I have never looked at how the cladding goes on and off (never had a reason to), but I do now.

Are you sure the rear arch does not need to come off?

For some reason I remember a bolt and a clip being back there and snapping off. The fastner was rusted to the clip and it snapped the plastic right off.

I think there is 2 rivits that need to be drilled @ the corner bracket and 2-3 on the underside of the quarter panel. I think I sawed mine off with a hack saw blade. I have detailed pictures some where of the whole operation.

Re: Ugh.. Ty pass rear cladding needed

I sprayed the bolts for the arch side with pb blaster and let it sit a while and they came out without issue. I'm sure other trucks are different though. My cladding has also been off before though for paint by a previous owner
