Underneath throttle body?

I was changing the plug wires when I saw a one inch nipple sticking out of the bottom of the throttle body. It seems to be casted into the throttle body.

It looks as though a 5/8 hose should be connected to it.

Is this supposed to have a hose connected to it? If so, what does the hose connect to?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah like mentioned it was for coolant.. Look at a TPI engine and you will see what GM put it on the TB for. They needed a easy way to route coolant. What better way than circulate it through the TB?

seems to me that it is used to keep the throttlebody from iceing up or open ?

Actually I think the official function of the coolant circuit through the TB is for heating of the TB for warmup and emissions.. It is sitting on the motor.. I don't think you have to worry about freezing up.

yeah it's there to prevent throttle blade icing due to cold, humid air and the pressure drop right at the throttle body.... however we have a turbo to preheat the incoming air, so it's not used in our application.

okay so your say that they [PAS or GMC?] made an intake that has a place for TB to
to prevent throttle blade icing due to cold, humid air and the pressure drop right at the throttle body.... however we have a turbo to preheat the incoming air, so it's not used in our application.
so umm what car/truck uses our manifold and utilizes this POS 5/8 nipple mcJobber?
what do you think would happen if we used it?
what would you say if i told you that i use mine?

It is not on the manifold.. it is on the throttle body... and there are a number of other vehicles that use it.. Camaro's, Vette's...

If you use it... oh hell you are asking for trouble... Green men will come down from Mars and destroy you... actually if you use it... nothing will probably happen.. if you are running coolant through it.. you are just adding a bit of heat to the TB, if you are running ice water through it.. you are probably just adding heat to your IC, ;)

It is popular on other applications that use it from the factory to bypass it.. I did not notice anything when I did it on my LT4 Corvette.

good response.
i am not using it...
i dont even have the stock tb anymore or the manifold for that matter.
good to know though.
