Upper Coolant Hose

I just had an engine rebuild recently and after breakin I decided to see how she runs...She pings a little (91 octane) but feels pretty good...This never happened before but the upper coolant hose is coming in contact with the alternator...its only when I play with the acceleration (so much fun). I replaced the hose only for it to happen again...am I looking at possibly a loose motor mount? I dont hear any clunking during acceleration so this has me baffled...I could easily change the route of the hose by extending it but I want to be sure that there isnt a greater problem lurking....

probably a motor mount is shot, a common problem on syty's. its also possible whoever put your rebuilt engine in used just regular blazer 4.3 motor mounts (not as strong)

when this happened to me I had solid motor mounts put in instead so I never have to worry about it again and very happy with the decision. you can get the parts for that from turbotime. (~130 in parts I think... but a real bitch of a job and cost me a ton in labor, I think mechanics charge extra for motor mounts cause its such a pain to do on these trucks)

if you just want a temporary cheap fix, there's a way to put a tie down cable, I think its from the alternator bracket to frame... this may work for a while if you only broke 1 mount so far.. but the others will be soon to follow if you dont do something about it quick.

btw napa had replacement upper coolant hose only 14 bucks.

playing with acceleration when your truck is pinging is a really bad idea. some consider me anal about it but I refuse to drive w/any knock. theres only 91 here as well but I found a station nearby w/racing gas (100+) I always run 1.5-2 gallons of (@ $6.99/gal.. ouch) with the rest 91..also my trucks boost is currently about 13 psi anyway just in case.. which is alot faster trhan a broken truck

I had the same problem with the my syclone.Once I pulled the motor out to build it I found the drivers motor mount shot.
