Vortec Head swap

Blazwhore

trucks=headaches
I have been reading alot of stuff posted about theses motors while i have been gathering the parts to put mine together. I noticed alot of the people who have been on here awhile say that the vortec swap is hard or shouldnt be tried by someone new to these motors.

I just was wondering if someone could tell me why its such a pain? I am planning on swapping them on my motor. I looked through the vault and didnt see much. I could have missed it though.

Any help would be appreciated. Adam

Re: Vortec Head swap

basicly the lower intake has to be welded and the heads need to be drilled.. then theres the other stuff like valves , rockers rods and the biggest part , tunning. but the gains if you do some searching are just insane. these guys on here know alot about it and will have a huge knowledge for this swap. and give ya alot more details on it.

Re: Vortec Head swap

Nothing to it in my opinion. Buy the parts already machined and welded and its nothing you cant do with a Chilton manual. The intake mod and re drilling of the heads is the hard part. If you dont have the means to do this yourself then,
Rpm sells the whole package as well as other members on this site. Use the search feature on here it will give you all your answers
