I am just about to take the plunge to aset of all the way vortecs. I do not really have any other options because I do not want to change headers, intake, etc. currently I am running a set of maximum effort L35's with reworked intake and so forth. they were done by flow technologies in detroit if anyone is familiar with them. I must say they are beautimus in the porting!!!

I a faamiliar with all the benifits that these heads haave over others. My question is do any of you guys who have walked where I'm going have any real opinions about whos out there doing maximum effort vortec?. whose do you think put out the most and offer best craftmanship. High velocty in knoxville, flow tech in detroit, mccoys stage 3, I would really appreciate some opinions before plunging. I'm pretty much looking for the ultimates. From what I hear Jerry's stage 3's are about it. I realize there are some awfully good guys out there doing them and would like some members opinions

Hi Les if you want I will have flow numbers of my heads soon.
My guy has spent a ton of time on my heads.
He even built a jig so he could reverse flow the heads like in boost.

E-mail me if you would like more info

Flow Tech in Detroit did mine recently. They are very reputable and probably one of the best in the country. If Flow Tech did a full port job on your L35's you may want to keep them depending how much intake work you want to do. IMO you have to weld up the intake and do a full port match to take advantage of the higher flow vortec over your fully ported L35's. The vortec chamber design has some advantages which helps prevent detonation but if you are running a good fuel/spark management system or have a super chip tuner you shouldn't have detonation problems with the L35s.

If the L35's were done by Flow Tech and are not damaged I would recommend spending the cash on something else like supension, weight savings, traction, converter, upgrade turbo, dp, IC system to trim your ETs. If I recall, you already have a serious build and pulling good times. In the last couple of years there as been some nice progress on turbo/dp setups and intercooler systemsand tuning that can take advantage of your motor/head combo. You probably have about as much head flow as you will get from the vortecs.

I love my vortecs, but if i were to buy another head to use with my atr headers , i would get a set of brodix, talked to the guy at orlandos world fastest street cars about 4 months ago and he said he could make a set for me and flow somewhere close to 300, this is what he said anyway, even if they were close to 300cfm with my cam(stokes grind) they do wiegh half as much and cost about the same as stage 3 vortecs or less.
That is just the way i would go on mt motor. :D

I think the traction is there. It'a pulling 1.5 60 footers. I hate to go to a higher stall than the 9/11 cause I would like to try to keep the tranny together a little. I really love the 72 turbo. I've been talking to precision about the new gts 76 and it won't fit and they didn't think I would gain much changing from mine. it spools up really quick. mark wiliams 12 bolt rear with adjustable traction bars and fiberglass leaf springs which saves some weight, aluminum drive shaft, the prop shaft is rated for a thousand horse and i'm not even close to that. I'm working on a couple of other things like the gas tank (john, did you get any pictures yet) probably a different IC wouldn't hurt. I was just thinking with the other stuff the vortecs might give me the most bang. sure would hate to just put the heads back on after the monstrous amount of work to get em off. they had studs not bolts and the job was pretty monumental. would also hate to spend a couple thousand bucks and pick up 3/00 of a second
