I know this is a common problem but was wondering if anyone came up with any good fixes.
It seems like using the release hatch button on the dash only works about half the time.
If the truck is running there is sufficient voltage to pop the solenoid.
But I know in my truck and some of the others I have seen if you push the release button when the engine isn't running there is not enough voltage to pop the solenoid.
I always have to start the engine to get it to pop from inside the truck.
I thought someone smart had traced all the possible voltage drops between the dash on the rear gate, but I never saw any type of fix.
Short of replacing the rear hatch solenoid, adding a stiffening cap or adding a relay to guarantee there is 12V at the solenoid...
Anyone tackled this one?
