I'm rebuilding a Syclone for a guy, found all 3 pistons on pass side having cracked ringlands. Before i send the block to a machine shop i'm wondering if this is a Sy/Ty block because it has been open before or been replaced.

Front of pass head: W5L292LD

Cast p/n: 1??66?61, could not read the question marks, could be 8's or 0's

Top rear: GM 4.3 LG

Any help appriciated?

there isnt anything special about a syty block. and there is no way I know to tell if it has the right main caps. from all the syty and stock 4.3L caps I've seen they all looked identical.

you just have to hope it's OG stuff. really the only big thing to worry about is the main caps. bc it's a pain to transfer them from block to block and if somebody used a another then theres a good chance they either didn't know they were special)nodular iron) or didn't care.

All the syty blocks I've seen apart so far have an "N" cast into the main caps. All the regular TBI crap I've looked at hasn't.

Of course that could all be a big coincidence :D
