Re: Which alky kit
Hmmm... Well when I ran race gas at 15 psi when it wasn't needed yeah I was running pig rich. It bogged me down bad. It was 114 octane. Then the following summer my O2 sensor went. If I had tuned to race gas at 15 psi it might have been different. But why? I could run 15 psi on regular gas. I was able to run 18 psi on regular gas.
A perfect example. I found my AFPR to be bad so I put the stock one back in. The AFPR was running 37 lbs of base pressure. I had a better bottom end. Then after 10 psi the alky kicks in and then it soars.
With the stock regulator its preset to 42 lbs of base pressure and I run a little richer bottom end and I can feel it lag a bit more. At 42 lbs of base pressure and a Walbro I am able to run 22 lbs of boost on the stock turbo with 18 deg of timing until about 10 psi and then it needs alky.
So if I pulled ECM power and ran race gas you’re saying it won’t make a difference? Will the ECM learn to lean out the bottom end and then richen up the top end at 22 psi? I’m just asking because it sure didn't act that way when I tried it? Just trying to state what I found and maybe learn something from you guys if I’m wrong. I could see burring a chip for a race gas tune might work well. But race gas cost adds up and so do O2 sensors with all the lead in race gas.
Someone educate me if I’m wrong. Not trying to act like I know everything here. I just have messed around with this stuff a lot.
I dont use a WBO2. I plan to get one. I use datamaster and a EGT for reasurance. It has worked well for me so far.
