I had the exact same problem, I feel your pain! Cracked cyl wall number 4.... less than 500 miles after the rebuild. Finally back together and running again 6 months later

Just curious about the build on your engine... was it overbored to .030, .040, ?? Possible over boost, over heat? What could have cause it to crack?

Re: Disappearing Coolant

Bored .030 over. Not really sure what caused everything to go tits up. I don't really pound on the truck too much, but I do get after it occasionally (otherwise why have it :D). The weak point was that the #3 had a pretty thin wall on the side where the crack appeared. It's been pretty much of a nightmare up to this point. Lots of time and $$$$. Hope to be back on the road in a week or so.

Well on the positive side you know what the problem is. Get another block, bore it to the size pistons you have right now, new rings and a gasket set and good to go.

Re: Disappearing Coolant

I replaced the block, because.......just because. Didn't want to sleeve it, and mess around with something else that could be a weak link.

:tup:Dave, that's pretty much what Brandon (ServicePro) and his guy told me, too. Basically.......don't do it.
