Shift points question

I just installed the B&M shift point kit. If you didn't know its a combination of different weights and springs. There is apparently no way to pick a set of weights and springs and arrive at certain shift point. It's all trial and error bud.

Anyway, for those of you who race what shift points are you using? Yup it's a broad question, depends on a bunch of variables but a brief build spec and the shift points you're using would be fine.

My first try went like this:

1-2 4950 now 5050
2-3 5075 now 5400

Thanks

Re: Shift points question

When I had the 700R4 set up in my truck, I ended up getting two kits to get the shift points just right. & yes, lots of trial & error. I also ended up getting a second governor to try different combos to narrow it down a little quicker. I haven't been able to find my notes when I "tuned" the trans, if I do, I'll post them up.

Re: Shift points question

My motor shifts at ~5000 1-2 & ~5200 2-3. I use blue and yellow springs
#2 & #3 weights.

I am plan in playing around with my shift points, once I get my tune a little more dialed (I have transitional knock from the alky).

Re: Shift points question

I changed weights (forget #s) but used the stock springs as my first "test" which yielded the results above. It also changes part throttle shifts so I don't want to go to far. I'll get the weight #s for ya.

Thanks. I guess I'm not a very good searcher. Actually tried before I posted.:rotf:
