Re: Winter fixes and updates

With the 4l80e Trans out it was good time to have the Coan Converter freshened and it needs to have stall loosened a couple hundred RPMs.

With trans out with help from Mike Hardman and Jeff Scott (JSM) went a head and took it apart to inspect and change the output shaft to a factory hardened 32 spline.

Had to change the transfer case input shaft to a JSM 32 spline to accept the new input.

Re: Winter fixes and updates

Since it will be awhile before the converter gets back went ahead and got rid of the hacked up for clearance factory frame support and updated to a shiny new JSM bolt in frame support.

Beating that lip up in the tunnel is a must! More the better. It is a tight fit but not to bad to get an 80e in there.

Can't I cut that lip off? I haven't looked at it closely yet but have the engine and trans out. Don't you have to slice a couple sections in order to pound the metal since its curved? Got any pics?

Thanks

I will get ya some pics of mine. I did mine with the motor still in. I didn't cut it any. Just took a sledge an beat it over. With the motor out it will be much easier task for you. I have helped with other trucks on a 80e swap with the motor out. Alot easier.

Great thanks for the help. Aren't you running the JSM 4 link? If so how do you like it?

Re: Winter fixes and updates

I would never cut that seam. I am sure if you did so it might be OK but it is a pinch weld or body seam. If you cut it off you are cutting the welds off which might result in a slight breeze in your crotch eventually.

Yes my truck was the Syclone test mule. Haven't had too much time to really get after it. But what I have driven it is great. Ride difference from stock is incredible. We are also updating my suspension to a production version. The protype stuff was a little diffrent then production versions.

Hope to put it to alot of abuse.........ahem use in the spring.

Before putting the current engine in the Syclone, we made some relief cuts in the lip and hammered it to fold it back. Makes a big difference. You wouldn't want to cut that lip off, though.

Re: Winter fixes and updates

Got a couple more things done. Updated the JSM rear to production parts from the proto types. Still waiting on the finished Watts link bar. Also got the driver side CV shaft replaced. Just waiting on the converter to get back from Coan.
