Its been awhile since I read the whole thread so, Here comes the stupid ?. What brand Cap and Rotor did you use? The reason for asking is this, One my 2nd tune up I installed a (Standard Ignition Blue Streak) Cap and Rotor, as the place I was buying the Conard Cap and Rotor were out of stock on them. The truck would not start after installing these. Come to find out that Standard Ignition had a bad batch of rotors do to the tab (I will call it) that fires each plug was too short by 1/4".

Ok, so here is a re-cap of what i've done so far so people don't have to go through 4 pages of posts:

I am still having a no start issue with the Ty. I can crank it over fine, it sputters like it wants to start, but it will not fire. (it has fired twice during all this testing but stalled shortly after)
I have replaced or swapped out the following: New: cap; rotor; plugs; wires; coil; ign mod; coolant temp sensor; fuel filter; O2 sensor. Have replaced the following with known good parts: distributor; throttle body with all sensors; ECM with different prom; ing mod again; coil again; all relays on the firewall; map sensor.

Basically, I know I have my distributor installed correctly (found TDC); my fuel pressure gauge reads 40#s at the rail; I have checked the spark and its nice and blue off of the coil. I have sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body during startup with no luck. I really have no idea where to look next.

Here comes the stupid ? # 2 and # 3. Have you done a compression test OR check for a really big vacuum leak, like at the intake manifold? Its takes 4 things for a engine to run. 1 fuel, 2 air, 3 spark, 4 compression. At this point you know you have 2 (spark and fuel). You'll need to check on the other two. I hope this helps. A long time ago I had an car that would not start after buying it and driving the 80 miles home, after checking the normal stuff, air, fuel and spark. All of them passing I did a compression test and only 2 of the 8 cyl had 185 lb compression, the other 6 were below 100lb with 4 of those at 45lb each. When I pull the heads I found that carbon had broke loose and was keeping the valves opened on the 4 lowest reading cyl and was keeping the other 2 from building full pressure. After doing a valve job and cleaning the pistons off, all cyl were back up to 185 lb and the motor lasted another 130,000 miles. It turned out to be one of the best cars that I ever brought and one of only 2 car that I sold that I have regretted to this day.

tried starting it with the tps unplugged? i know its wierd, have you replaced that?

Sounds like you have covered alot of bases chasing this problem.

I'm thnking it may be a compression issue as well.

First thing I'd do is pull out the o2 sensor and see if it will start. You mentioned that it started running poorly, sputtered then died.

Sounds kinda like a plugged convertor to me. With the 02 sensor out the motor can breathe, if nothing can get out, nothing will get in, make sense?

It's a fairly simple test to do, and may send you down the correct path. If there is no difference at least you know that's not it. lol

I haven't done a compression test yet... I guess thats next on the list! I did hookup a different O2 sensor that wasn't screwed into the dp and had the same results. Plus there is no cat on the truck.

well i just read your cliff notes and not the entire thread but you mentioned checking the timing... how did you do this if you can't get the truck to start and run?

also have you checked your grounds? if it used to run then stopped and swapping shit doesn't make any difference then it sounds like you lost a ground either by severing a connection (while you did your FIRST tuneup) or corrosion got it.
