Did you check to make sure the rotor they gave you is the correct one? I bought one once for an old car that was supposed to be the right one, and it was about 1/8" too short. Sometimes it would fire and other times it wouldn't. Your problem sounds a little different, but worth checking.
Also, some rotors have a resistor built in, between the tip and the center post - take a multimeter and make sure you have zero ohms of resistance between the two.
The way yours acts, though, almost sounds more like a coil problem. Running fine for a few minutes, then failing, kind of rules out ECM or a sensor (I would think). Double check the connections to your coil.... :2cents:

i had the same problem with my ty it ran fine at start up and then 1 day woulndt start i put a new fuel pump in it and distributor and plugs and it fired up first try now it doesnt start i was playin with the distributor 1 day and i touch my oip pressure sensor connector and heard my fuel pump kick on wonder if my connections r ****ed up

I am having the same problem with my typhoon. It wont start.It use to start. I decided to check the truck at night and what i saw was crazy in side the distributor cap it looked like some one was welding you can see the volts and you can hear it. So i know its ignition problem.

this is a long shot, but check for blown fuses. I had this problem for a day or two and it was a blown ecm fuse.

Quick Question, have you tried taking the ic off and spraying carb clean into the throttle body and seeing if it will start for a few seconds.
Thats how I usually check to see if its a spark issue or a fuel issue. If it starts that means you got something going on with the fuel system.
To me I don't think the fuel pressure is supposed to drop I think you may have a fuel pump issue. Its very hard to diagnose this stuff over the internet though.

WIth the inline spark checker you can see what the spark looks like and the noid light will tell you if the injectors are opening to see if you have a problem there.

replace TPS sensor?

check for kinked vacuum lines
check for plug wire arch (doubt it)
checked for a burned plug wire?
delete egr/plug lines test
reconnect tan wire on the pass floor under the back of the carpet?
I rebuilt my top end recntly and experienced a wave of unexpected problems and thats what I ended up doing to make her come back. I had problems from not starting, to dieing at idle, to arching plug wires\ sounds which turned out to be bad sensors making cracking noises like an arch.... Runs better than it ever has with the L35s on it and the recent work

In my case the coil is good and my 2step is disconnected but I still have the same weak spark problem.
1177 have you pulled wire and tested for the strength of your spark? I am getting no "snap" and also have the yellow color. I have read many posts between here and s10forum but no one has had any success stories for solving their weak spark problems or at least they aren't posting their solutions.
My next step is to take your guys advice and replace the ign module but can a bad ignition module cause a weak spark? Isn't it basically a transistorized switch? You would think it would either work or it won't.
In my case the coil is good and my 2step is disconnected but I still have the same weak spark problem.

Honestly guys, I haven't touched the truck in a couple weeks now. I just got so frustrated with it, I pushed it back into the garage and took a break from it. With the Power Tour being this weekend, I probably won't be able to get to try a few new things untill sometime next week. I really appreciate all the help and suggestions though!:tup:

Technically the module is like you say its either on or off but I wouldn't doubt that it could go bad slowly.
Also what are you using to check your spark with? Whenever I use my inline spark checker its an orangish color I don't really ever see a blue spark.
Have you changed the cap etc on your yet? I would at least pull that stuff off and see how it looks might have gotten corroded just sitting there.

I did however pressure wash my motor maybe a year ago so it may have in fact caused something in the module to go wrong.

Well I pulled the Ty back out of the garage today and got motivated to try and fix it again. The spark does appear to be weak after testing it again. I put a meter on the coil as Mike stated and all the numbers appear to be good so that looks good. I am gonna run to the store now and get some starting fluid and see if it will run off of that. So i'll get back in a few here......
