Meth Inj. thru LT1 nitrous plate.

Instead of drilling into the W2A intercooler for a tap for meth injection...

has anyone tried the nitrous plate that they make for LT1 cars..

its a throttle body spacer with a fogger bar and ports for feed lines...

any opinions??

it'll push the intercooler a bit to the passenger side, and another problem might be linkage length.

Re: Meth Inj. thru LT1 nitrous plate.

I have thought of this myself.

2 things i would wonder, question.

What spray patter will it have?
Will it spray enough or too much? Can you change jets on just the plate? I am not a nitrous expert by any means.

the nitrous jet placement is in between the fitting on the plate, and the fitting on the feed line, so i would imagine if you get a feed line fitting, and ran your meth feed to it, you can adjust spray by the nitrous jets.

also i believe the spray pattern is vertical up and down and isn't sprayed directly into the plenum.

the plate comes in any LT1 nitrous kit. However, i do believe it is a special order piece if you just want the plate. I'm sure plates pass through ebay every once in awhile. (thats where i got the pic).

i was curious on price, becuase it sure looks like something i could produce.

if im not mistaken the first plate is for a wet nitours set-up , injects nitrous and added fuel , the second one looks like a older dry style nitrous plate, only inject nitrous and no fuel, the dry system are for about 100 hp or less if i remember correctly. the newer plates also have a much better spray pattern and alot more ports in the cross bar for better dissipation.

i don't see why we can't just thread the current meth jets into a spacer. Seems like a viable solution. I have a 1/2" aluminum spacer i could modify to do this with.

I think drilling is a lot cheaper, as well as stealth.

I can just see arguing with a ricer that it doesn't have nitrous after you take his money.
Nawwwwwwwwwws!

This would be a better solution... you'd have to have some pretty small holes in that spray bar to make it fan out decent.

The long nose NOS fanspray nozzles would be good in this application.

Keep in mind, if you're behind the TB, you have to have a solenoid of some sort to shut the liquid off under vacuum. Otherwise, it'll suck the tank dry through the pump. I personally like that arrangement better, since you can run the solenoid with a hobbs, set it so it comes on at 8-10 psi. The pump can then build pressure against it, so the moment the solenoid opens, the alky is there.

This is a cool idea. I may try it out if I ever get around to getting me an Alky set up.

Re: Meth Inj. thru LT1 nitrous plate.

I talked to Julio at alkycontrol about this 2 years ago when I bought my Alky Kit. He said not to go this route because his Nozel sprays more and atomizes better than any Nitrous injector would. He said I could go that way and spend the extra money but his setup works better and is cheaper. Plus getting an aluminum hole welded up is cheap if you no longer want the alky injection.

does anyone know if the TPI cars had the same throttle body as the LT1 cars. I had an LT1 car, and my Sy TB is identical.

The TPI (L98) cars were the same from 85-92, then the LT1 was intoduced in the 92 vette, which used essentially the same TBI as the L98, just with a different IAC pigtail and linkage. In 93 when when the LT1s were first introduced into the F-bodies. They were redisgned, visually the same. But the water port running through the the base was rerouted. The 94-97 F-body TBs were a completey different animal than before, they had a larger air opening for the IAC to make up for the MAF system.

Now, I dont know about the Gen IIs used in the B-bodys, never owned one so cant tell you much about them.

But the TB plates should still work, the blade openings and bolt holes are in the same place.
