Killed my engine in my 92 Typhoon....


Sharp knocking and then nascar style smoke >.>

I was on the high way merging and when I jumped over to the fast lane about 78 MPH

There was sharp knocking and so I let off the gas and tried to get to get over so I could stop.


PS I didn't jump on the throttle... The waste gate for my turbo was not working so it was removed >.>



I was to late ='[


Blow a hole straight down through my oil pan...




I am not a car guy.... I haven't had anyone look at the engine I was just wonder where is the cheapest place to buy a rebuilt engine?

Or what is the average rebuild cost for a typhoon engine.



What should I do owe super forum >.>

Boy are you in for rude awakening...

These trucks *can* be high maintenace, so it is helpful if you are mechanically inclined. If you are not, better find someone that knows these trucks, or some mechanic ( who hopefully knows these trucks) will make a small fortune off of you.

Obviously by what you posted your engine is shot.

Options:
Sell the truck as is & take the loss.
Find someone on this forum selling a shortblock (engine with no heads/manifolds)
Rebuild the engine.($5K+ estimated)
If you did find a GM crate engine, i doubt it was built to the turbo engine specs and would eventually self destruct.

Use the search function on this forum to answer most of your questions.
Post your location so others in your area may offer help or advice on engine rebuilders.
Start saving your cash.

Does the engine sound rebuildable?


Or does someone need to rip it apart to even guess >.>


Wouldn't rebuilding be way cheaper then 5k?

Haven't even had a chance to get the motor pulled.


All I know is it blow straight through the oil pan so the top of the engine may be lucky >.>


I am trying to find quotes for another engine /// pulling it and having it rebuilt.

there was a guy in farmington hills that had correct OEM longblocks ill call him tonight to see if he has any left

What would be the difference between a shortblock and a longblock for a typhoon?

FWIW i did a quick search and found several engines for sale on this forum.

I would get real chummy with pancakes as he seems to be a good source for these trucks. :tup:

The engine block you have is mostly like toast if the rod is stickying through. The chances of a half of a connecting rod swinging around on a crank and not critically damaging the block is pretty slim. My guess is the sheetmetal oil pan is not what absorbed all the energy.
