Well its not an unmolested original :lol: The intercooler is aftermarket peice. The metal peice in the upper radiator is because it has or had a broken motor mount (alt fan hit the radiator hose). I would check the motor mount before you before it (open hood, brake torque motor, if its broken the motor will jump up and it will be obvious)

Thanks guys! My Dad used to run a GM dealer down in Mississippi during the 80's & 90's. He let me fly to Houston,TX and pick up a '92 Typhhon white/grey and drive it back. It was a GM "brass-hat" truck that had about 800 miles. It was one of the best roadtrips! I have been in love ever since. I hope I don't get burned on this purchase. Wish me luck!

As for what's different... another thing is the wing was added... and it may be a re-paint, since the decals aren't original size, and the lettering is a bit off... also note the cool motorsports decal (i like it better imo) Looks to be in good shape... no broken cladding (very expensive to replace) paint looks good...the decals REALLY bother me but you could easily replace them...from a few of us on this board (Mirrado Graphics, Me, or Graphik Concepts)...or just delete them all together... We make 'em look just like OEM... I like the gold windshield banner...the mileage is good for the price as well...The wheels look to be in good shape...
you appear to have my same pain in the ass intercooler....painted "syclone" is a plus...original documentation...seats look good....headliner is nice... Nice find!

make sure you do a good tuneup, taylor wires, ngk UR5 or UR6 plugs, a good cap 'n' rotor... MSD or borg-warner i think...Mobil-1 10w-30 use 93 octane gas (shell v-power is what I use) or sunoco 100 if you can afford $8 a gallon... oh and READ THIS Powertuneplus.com has a great step by step info guide on how to get your truck running the way it should (I wish I would have found it when I bought mine) And get a Scan Tool from moates, and Datamaster or Tunerpro (look around) Might want to invest in an Ostrich to tune but thats later down the line... Get it running perfectly in stock condition before you add ANY mods onto it...I'm learning the hard way with my truck's previous owner's ATR shopping spree, its rebuild time....And if you have any trans problems, talk to George from Prime Gears, he'll be glad to help you out...

Thanks for the reply! Very informative. The stickers bother me too. They will be gone as well as that wing on the rear window and the big windshield sticker. I hope it drives nice. I will update this post as soon as i go see it.

*edit* that metal hose in the rubber rad. hose has me a liitle scared. Oh well if it's not what I expect I will get my paypal deposit back.....but I hope I drive it home!

Wingless hinges can be found in LMC Truck's Magazine or website...(to get rid of the wing)
I sell reproduction decal sets (if you're looking to replace and not delete) in many colors choices for $60.00 which includes the 3 Typhoon decals, and the GMC Truck Decal (or gmc truck motorsports one) all taped up and ready to apply...and made out of top quality Avery Vinyl.

I also sell reflective sets for $100...

Send me a PM if you're interested.... also off topic, but make sure you have a good aftermarket boost gauge, like an autometer...the stock one near the tach sucks....I don't know who sells good A-pillar pods on here... Mine came with one on..and it looks like an OEM pillar....the color matches perfectly as well as the texture... :tup:

I live in Landenburg, PA and work in Newark, DE so I hope it ends up there! Just for kicks, here is a picture of my '05 STi I just sold. I went a little crazy with mods. I will keep the Ty stock............... :rotf: .

I blew the #4 cylinder and sold it. Sad news is that the guy who baught it from me put a new CobbTuning built block in it ($4000)and hydrolocked it w/1200 miles. He went in deep water and sucked alot up in the cold-air intake :squint: . OUCH! It dynoed 495hp on a dynapack and my God it was a beast. I also have a Subaru Outback lease that is about to be up so the Ty will replace that.

Welcome.

I would bet money it has a broken mount on the passenger side.Also,something about the front end doesn't look "right" to me.

If I were you,I'd ask for a picture of the radiator core support.If it's missing the emission label,the core support has been replaced.

Sorry to bust your bubble but i remember a thread stating that someone bought a TY from that person and he was lied to alot. They ran a carfax after they bought it and there was an issue with mileage roll back.


Question - Did you run a carfax and did someone actually look at the truck for you??????

I ran a carfax and it came back clean? I paypaled him a deposit. He said that if I don't like it he will refund my deposit......Hmmmmmmmmmmm

make sure you go check it out in person during the day and take your time with it.. get it up to temp etc hell you might even be able to wrangle up a syty owner in the area of the truck to go see it with you which might be a great help to you. worth a shot

Good idea! Anyone live near Ozone Park, NY? I will pay for your help.....or trade beer.....or both :D I am planning on picking it up Wed. or Thurs. next week. Let me know if anyone would be willing to help a possible new Ty owner. Damn I hope this works out. I am super excited to get this if it is not a basket-case.
