anyone know about the stock syty harness working on a 95 RWD S10?

i have a complete harness. engine/ interior with the ecm/ fuse box and all.

is there any provisions for the 4L60E in the harness?

if not, will the tranny have any problems shifting?

i looked in the syty conversions forum but nothing there.

thanks guys.

4l60-e is electronic , where syty is cable shift 92 and 93, where the 4l60e was introutuced into cars alot durin 93 we still had the 4l60 and youd need the computer for shifts.

i was thinking of doing a manual valve body in the 4L60E thats in my S10. but i wondered if that would get tired after awhile.

so it wont shift in D?

You can run the stock s-10 parts to control the trans , and hardwire in the syty ecm to control the motor stuff . Yes it may sound out of reach , but its really no different than what the jsm crew has done for stock 4l80e control .

Matt made a nice how-to for the 80e but the same principles apply to the 60e . Find some 60e schematics and it should fall into place .

Re: anyone know about....

thanks

you know i looked at about 40pages of posts regarding 200R4 700r4 4L60E and th400. and i might be going with a th400 for simplicity sake. parts are available at good prices. and from what i read they are pretty much bullet proof. the only thing is ill loose 4th gear. i live in queens NY. i never travel that far anyway

Re: anyone know about....

There's several ways to do this.
A) Use your existing 95 engine and modify your Typhoon intake to vortec heads.. bolt it and exhaust manifolds/crossover/turbo/downpipe to the 95 engine and engine management. Use HP Tuners to tune it.
I think that's the cheapest way.
B) Install the complete Sycone engine/harness/ECM and use a TCI Trans controller or a different transmission all together. Either way your looking at over a grand there by the time it's all done.
The 95 engine has a few things the Syclone doesn't, Vortec heads,1pt more compression.
We are using the stock 98 Jimmy engine which is similar or identical to the one in yours. It's going on 6000mi boosted now. It sure seems even happier than the way our stock Typhoon was in a heavier 4dr Jimmy.
Just some suggestions.

Originally I kept the 97 ECM when I did my SYTY motor swap and used my 4l60e. The truck ran ok but really never got it dialed in properly. Eventually I swapped to a SD tuned 01 ECM and now have a th350. The truck runs excellent now.

The 01 swap is fairly inexpensive compared to other options.

Re: anyone know about....

Im looking at a 200R4 that is local. it has a 2400stall converter. im thinking of doing that tranny. if it can handle a 3600lb GN, it should handle my little S10.

i don't think the GN in 1987 used any electronics on their tranny. so in theory it should work right?

Re: anyone know about....

alot of guys here don't know to much about the GN 200r4 because you cant use it in the awd application.

The syty 700/4l60 isnt electronic , why not use one of them ? Theres a good reason syty's didnt come with 200's .

because the 10 million pages of 700r4 info i read on this site said the 700r4 wont stand up to our turbo application. and the 4L60 is the same as a 700R4.

the reason that none of the syty use the 200r4 is because it cant be used in awd applications.

im just gonna check to see if the 3k stall converter i had in my 4L60e will work with the 200r4.

Re: anyone know about....

I understand your point and Im only trying to help discuss your options , but the main killer of a syty 700 is the awd factor . Waller builds a damn fine 700 that will withstand your abuse , and george blake is even closer . Usually a proven combo is the easiset/cheaper route to take , but thinking outside the box isnt looked down on .

Have fun with whatever you decide , thats all that really matters .

QUOTE but the main killer of a syty 700 is the awd factor .

You make a good point. mine is a rwd and should be a little easier on parts.

honestly, its not my lack of knowledge.or my ability to turn wrenches. its my lack of money. i can decide what to do, i just have to make a sensible money decision. and with all the "little things to do" it adds up to ALOT of money.

the saga continues.............

DH32 Are you running a modified MAP sensor with this?

I'm at the fork in the road with using the Ty ECM or the '02 ECM. -I may use both!

It seems easier to install a newer engine in an older car instead of an older engine in a new car.

Bait: I was under the impression heat is one of the major issues with the 700R4, not necessarily the torque.
