well i dont know about 1000 hp, but bowtie blocks are pretty strong.
i'd be more worried about the crank first.
i'd say stock block internals could do 12's safely.
11's would be pushin it, and tens  keep your fingers crossed.

stock blocks have gone very low 10's. and it should take 850hp or so to do it. so I'm sure they could take 1k if everything else was perfect. but the whole thing isn't goin to last more than a few passes at that kinda power.

Stock internals have already done 11s.

Dean Ollar did 10s on a stock motor setup Typhoon, but it was a very light RWD setup that was all race...not really applicable, and more comparable to the typical high 11 second Syty buildup.

Bowtie blocks will do much more than 1000hp, from what I've seen. I believe I've seen buildups with bowties geared for 1500hp or so. There were many high hp turbo setups years ago, for road racing purposes. The ASA usage had many making ~600hp NA, at high RPM, so it's not really comparable.

The Bowtie blocks are the equivalent of the Buick stage blocks.

so what is the most power the stock block can take safely?

the stock block can go a long way. the other stock internals will break before the block. the most common failures are broken cranks, bent rods, and piston failure.
now if you have a stock block with aftermarket rods, pistons, and crank( or maybe a treated stock crank), you can push some good horsepower without worries. if you convert a stock block to 4 bolt mains, that will help out even more.
its very uncommon to break a stock block.
to answer your question, i'd say a stock block converted to 4 bolt main, should be able to run 11's all day long without a problem. thats just my opinion. :)

The above is very true. A stock block with good internals like a billet crank, oliver rods etc. Could really get it on. The bowties have a little more meat between the cylinders so you can go over 300ci with them. The bowties also have more meterial around the main cap area.

ALTHOUGH, the only blocks I have ever seen destroyed have been bowties. There was picture on here of one that had the main caps literaly pushed out. AND there is a local truck here in dallas pushing a load nitrous on a late model s-10 and his block cracked in the exact same place both were bowties.

I guess there would be a moral to the story.

good point...kinda makes me want to save up for a billet crank for my balanceshaft 4bolt...

are you saying that stock blocks usually gets ruined when the crank breaks?

Well here is the delima,

Did the crank fail before or after the block let go? I believe once the mains faild the crank only had support on the ends. Just from what I have seen I know the bowtie is beefier and can give you a higher CI displacement but I dont know if it is really any tougher.

Also doesnt matter how bad ass your lower end is. If you get out there with monsterous head pressure on it and detonate it you can destroy anything.
