i did a search and did not find what i was looking for.Can you use a HKS evc IV on a stock turbo and wastgate to control boost. I installed it and have no control of boost it overboosts.I got the controler used and i am trying to find out if the problem is the stock wastgate or a falty boost controler

it has a steper motor and has 3 lines to hook up i hooked it up the way the instrution said . my buddy with a 3000 has the same boost controler with internal waste gate and gets great boost control up to 30 psi and its hooked up the same way.

i don't know scott. My stepper only has in/out. You should goto dsmtuner.com or supraforums.com. Nobody here really uses ebc's. O honda-tech.com is good also.

thanks any way is your boost controler digital like the hks and are you running it on the stock set up. how much boost are you running with it . i have a mini gate that i am waiting to put on when i get my down pipe and turbo. and hope the boost controler works with it. Thanks again

I have the EVC IV on my Stealth and it's great. There's no reason it shouldn't work on a Sy/Ty.

Port 1 should go to one of the fittings on the intake manifold...either the back one or one of the two under the front of the manifold by the T-stat housing.
Port 2 should run to the compressor scroll outlet fitting. it's right there at the top of the turbo.
Port 3 goes to the wastegate.

Did you do the learning procedure? I dont' know how well it'll work on an automatic vehicle. Your best bet is to put it in drive (D) then go as slow as possible to where when you floor it the tranny won't downshift to second. Figure out how fast it is then initialize the learning procedure (the display will show "--L--"). The zero lag stock turbo & already high RPM may make the controller have a hard time figuring out spool time. If it won't beep and go to the high ("--H--") mode then beep again after another 3rd gear pull then you'll probably have to set it up manually by altering the "offset". It's range is 50-150 with 100 being neutral. Since you're overboosting you need raise the offset until the boost comes down to whatever boost level you've selected.

Make sure the SW <> PO switch on the back of the unit is set to "SW".

Ensure you use the shortest vaccum lines as possible while keeping the stepping motor away from high heat or any water whatsoever.

no it's analog. I'm running 15 right now on stock stuff. I have pt74 but it has to wait until my new motor is built. I just got back my pt51 from prescision. That's going on with my pt downpipe, atr headers, aquamist, etc...when my ty get's back from the body shop. I plan to go 18psi spraying meth on the street all day long. I think with my new a2a setup i should be able to go higher but we'll see.

i have it hooked up the way the picture shows 1 to the intake at the line for the power brakes 2 at the turbo housing 3 at the waste gate. did the learning proceger 10 times still no good. i set the over boost protetion at 22 psi and it shuts it off the way it is ssupposed to. if i shut the controler off it has like 8 psi. i tryed to set the offset all the way to 150 and still over boost the switch is on sw. if i take the over boost protection off it will boost to over 30 psi but i let out of it

If its holding boost to 8psi with the unit powered down that means the stepping motor is operational and not stuck open. It also means you don't have any vaccum leaks in the boost control system. Does the overboost get better with the offset at 150?

You know when you complete the learning procedure it resets the offset "trim" to 100. Two different cars that have completed the learning procedure successfully will both show "100" offset but that doesn't mean that their stepping motors are being regulated at the same duty cycle. Maybe your "100" is still WAY to high...as in if you could magically adjust the offest to 200 or so you would have accurate boost control. :-? The only way to re-trim the 100 offset would be to complete the learning mode successfully but it sounds like it won't beep to progress through the steps.

One thing to think about is the "Auto adjust mode".

Maybe if you turn that on and leave the offset at 150 it will bring the boost down. The only thing that absolutely sucks is you're going to be overboosting while trying to make it trim itself out.

Other than that I'm stumped.

If you do decide to throw in the towel I have this puppy on my Ty:

Works like a champ...rock solid 13psi 24/7. Just something to think about.

I have tryed all of those things . more than once. like i said i got this thing used and not sure if it no good or not it should work on my ty. but i am not sure if the waste gate or the controler is the problem????????I might try the bleeder valve to try to see if the waste gate can handle the boost. One more thing when i put my ultimate in it had like no boost on any of the settings so insted of checking it out i put the hks in if that helps thanks
