What is Rodger doing that's different? He's got to be doing something very different because he's not having any fitment issues.

If you look at the previous page in the gallery, he trimmed/hammered the Pinch Weld. But the note also says that the 4l80e fit and he didn't need to do this.

PINCH WELD AFTER MODIFICATION
hammered flat all the way arround. the trans fit without doing this

So little confused. Hope he posts what he did to the mounts to get it al fit. I am looking at putting this in my White Ty that is missing a trans and motor. Trying to research all this before I make a decision.

I do CNC'd tubular crossmembers for the 4L80e's. I'm really surprised people are still hell bent on trying to make stuff instead of getting something that is already known to work. Unless Eric has copied mine (I doubt he'd do something like that), mine should be the only ones available specific to the 4L80e syty setup. Sparkwire used mine and it went right in.[/QUOTE

Pm sent! Thanks.

I saw this asked before, but does this interfere inside much??

Also, did you try to put the engine in with the tranny attached?? I couldn't get it past the front diff with them together, so I dropped it in separately and it went in relatively easy

Yeah, I did put it in together at the same time. Internally I didn't notice any interference.

He is using different motor mounts. He made his own. There 4 fitment is different.

I'm trying to modify the tt oil pan to work, It is wider and hits on the front diff' holding the engine up higher in the back, gives the impression the trans is hitting!! The fittings do not clear even with them coming straight out, I cut the pan in the corner but it still hits the front diff' I posted up some pics http://www.turbols6.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=TYPHOON-LSX-TURBO

thats because you are not using TT motor mounts, yours sit the ls1 where the 4.3 was as opposed to jacking it up an inch or so.

when i took the tt mounts out and lowered the motor to where the trans cleared the tunnel, it sent the tt pan all up on the diff.

Hey George! I have been calling you all week. I pm'd you as well. I am trying to buy your 4l80e crossmember from you. I need it like yesterday. I would rather buy yours than making my own. I am shure yours would be much better quality. Anybody know how much George charges for his crossmember? I bet he is on vacation, just my luck.

I put the front diff in and took pics but my computer is down. I'm using my iPhone. I have room for the oil lines and all but I am kissing the diff a tad bit but nothing I can't fix. I'll post pics soon.

I think I am touching the front diff because I dont have a rear crossmember installed, to center the motor/oil pan. I am waiting for George to get back to me on the crossmember. I think I will have to make my own. This is the third week I have waited for the crossmember, no luck. The TT pan may not touch once the motor is straight.

I wonder if the Hummer H3 5.3 Alpha pan might be a better pan to start with for the swap.
I just wish the TT pan was bolt in with the 80E.

Check it out here. There is some good info.

I purchased that pan and tried it in my LS1 swap. While it's MUCH closer of a fit than other stock pans, it still hits the front diff. You are right though that if you wanted a starting point to mod a pan, that would be a good choice. I still went with the Turbotime pan and hopefully I can make it work..

Hey what converters you guy's useing? I was thinking of PI's 5 disk 9.5 maybe a 2800 stall. Little under $1000. A buddy of mine has the stock 4l80e converter on his silverado and he says he stalls it up to 2800rpm. Is that right? Maybe he has the duramax converter? I don't want to pay $1000 but I dont want a crapy stall either. What are you guys running?

I'm using a Hughes 2,800 stall. I haven't had enough drive time on it though to say if it works good. Still need to tune more.

Stock torque converter weighs over 60 pounds. Not a good choice.

Yeah I know they are heavy. I have a art carr 2800 9.5 But the the hub and clutch is damaged. I have to send it back and have it fixed. I think it cost like $300 to fix. Or pay 1k on the PI.

Re: calling all ls1 swappers, help needed! stuck!

PI makes a tripple disk that's real nice too, and it's quite a bit cheaper. Don't skimp on the lockup clutch though. I know TCI has some real garbage out there. When they go out, they take everything else with it. A stock 80E converter can be stalled up higher by playing with the timing and sitting on it a long time while staging. Sure it builds a ton of heat, but it can be done. PI will re-stall it for free within a year if you're not happy with it. That's worth some peace of mind too given your unique setup.
