Code59 Tech Sessions

Re: Code59 Tech Sessions

If there is anything you guys wanted blown up (charts and graphs not trucks) I have a source that can take ordinary pictures and blow them up with excellent quality. I can have it printed and affixed to corrugated plastic. I can also have a layer of dry erase material put over any picture so that you could write on it and then erase over and over and over. Let me know if this would be helpful.

Just got confirmation the raffle will be a good one. A gracious vendor just donated a nice prize to be given away at this tech session, nats is buying something else to go with it.

Re: Code59 Tech Sessions

I don't have a problem video taping as long as Mrs Harmon does my makeup and hair.

I also just ordered 20 flash drives. 2g and 4g so you will have plenty of room for your own stuff also, logs, whatever. I will load them up with all the code59 stuff, tunerpro, any helpful software I have.

They are costing me basically $10 for the 2g, $15 for the 4g. Will sell them at cost + donation to nats and/or code59 effort.

I'm in for a flash drive but I need you to mail it since I won't be there,
Plus a video when available.
Thanls,
Steve

Taping is gonna be fine, but I highly suspect that we'll want to do some constructive editing of things.
This will be the first time Jeff and I present this to a significant audience, and there are demos involved.

If you've ever done a demo for an audience, you'll know that there's a fairly large Murphy's Law component to it.

Also, we'll want to integrate stuff that's happening on the screen into the video, as trying to see what's on a screen through a camcorder is kinda tough.

I would like to ask that taping be limited to whomever is doing the "official" tape. I'd rather not have a bunch of different versions flying around.

Re: Code59 Tech Sessions

Don't know how I missed this thread... This is kind of how I've progressed as I've made my way through '59.....

My Code59 journey has been a lot of fun, sometimes trying, but very satisfying in seeing great results...

Off the top of my head...

1) what is needed with regard to hardware (computer, cables, etc.)
2) how to hook up the hardware (com port issues, etc.)
3) Why DM is needed, and why it makes for faster interpretation of the data
4) The Code59 site.. what's important, what to download, where to put it.
5) Make a list of all mods to the truck. What is present, what is needed to use '59 properly.
a) what are your boost goals.
b) what are the timing goals.
6) Taking DM for a trial log run
7) Connecting TPRT, going for a test log run
8) Getting familiar with Autotune... what it is, what it ISN'T, how to copy/paste
9) Introducing your first '59 bin... what it is, what you will be doing with it (general).
10) The important steps in tuning
a) drivability
b) cruise
c) part throttle expansion of the rpm window
d) timing
e) boost
11) which fields affect/are modified for each of the above conditions.
12) what if you run into a wall (KR with little timing, for example)... checking engine parameter (timing, etc.) for proper adjustment/specs.

gotta run to a family function, but I'll add some more later on....

Good thoughts, Rob, although we'll likely be leaving DM out of the mix. I know what you're saying with the above, but we're gonna try to keep it to the base tools.

It is my biggest hope that there will be a TunerPro Rt version soon that will alleviate the need to have a separate scan tool.

Re: Code59 Tech Sessions

I think 1 or 2 people dedicated to video and then a good clean edit afterwards would be perfect.

Dig and I can offer suggestions for editing, add info, remove bad info and have a video even better than presentation if someone wants to do the editing afterwards.

As far as flash drive, no need for me to mail one, I can put the files up for everybody to dl.

Paul is working on the files needed for the new tunerpro version now. It should bridge most of the gap we had before.

Re: Code59 Tech Sessions

Do I need to be on a a list for the class or memory card? I posted in the other thread. As for what I'm looking to get outta this is knowledge of exactly what I need to get code 59 up and running on my truck. What parts, and programs. Then as mentioned above what do I need from code59.org, and then how do I do it. I've been lurking on code59 for a while and I'm still just trying to get my head wrapped around this. The raffle prize is SWEET...I might just have to pull a RENZ (trans raffle ticket horder). to help improve my chances.

Re: Code59 Tech Sessions

News flash, one of the other code59 developer/tester guys is coming to nats now. Paul booked his ticket yesterday.

No need to register for session, everybody will be able to if they want.

I have 20 flash drives enroute, probably do a 1st come basis at the tech session.

Re: Code59 Tech Sessions

We are working hard on this presentation. You will have all 3 of us monkeys up there trying to teach you guys. Should be fun.

Are you guys prepared and/or ok with a 2hr presentation? We have it split into 2 sections. 1st section being 100 level stuff, 2nd section being a bit more advanced tuning topics.

It may be tough staying under that, we'll see. I have a feeling a lot of the stuff will get covered after the official session is over.

Seriously, you could do an 8-hr day on it easy, if you demo a bunch of stuff.
