Electronic Boost Controller not necessary with 3"dp and 38mm external w.g.? ---

If you use a 3" downpipe and a 38mm external wastegate you should have "rock solid" boost control, right?

The use of an electronic boost controller would be unneccessary with that setup?

I have an ebc ... but would rather not install it if I dont need to , thanks :) ---

I would love to hear the logic behind Why you think because you have this wg and dp that you dont need anything to control it. Or why you think a manual valve would be "Good Enough"? Seriously?

Hey Ed ... there is no logic , just ignorance.

Seems like I dont see anyone using these Electronic Boost Controllers when I read the threads on here and TurboBuick.

Im trying to scale down my build and free up some money ... wiring up a bunch of stuff always worries me too , because it usually ends up in issues down the road.

If you recommend the EBC , I will do some more research ... and it sounds like you do.

The one I have purchased is a Greddy Profec B-Spec 2 ... are they decent models? ---

I'm running a MBC with the RPM 3" DP and Precision 39mm Wastegate. Rock Solid boost control.

LOL on that for boost control.

For the new people here. Multistage Electronic boost controllers give you the following advantages over metering valves for boost control being:

1 Select boost to stage at
2 ability to control the ramping of boost as the truck leaves (i.e control blowing the tires off as the boost comes up
3 select boost levels for different gears
4 Allow you to get out of the stone age of manual boost control lol

FWIW I run a manual controller as well. Boost control l is very good. Not quite as flat as Sean's but it spools quicker.

WOW , $20 beats the hell out of $400 for the EBC I have.

Seems like that is all I will need since my build is getting pretty basic?

Thanks Ed for explaining the perks ... that is pretty amazing control !!! ---

If you own a Profec I'd use it. I loved mine. I now use something different but being able to control from the cab to me is worth a lot more than $40. The Profec is a pretty nice unit and I have used quite a few of them. I have seen guys with manual controllers have to get out and adjust it and get back in and get back out and adjust it, F that man, it gets hot under that hood.

But then who am I right?

I run the AMS 500. 4a cost effective boost controller, it is a fantastic piece. While I used to run a manual boost control valve, I found the need for a programmable unit like the 1 I have once I started making big horse power.
